I have some sort of medical condition- I wake up late in the nite, and regurgitation comes up to my esophagus?

This is really messed up, yo:

I have, in the past month or so, been waking up in the dead of nite (the night was dead, but fortunately, I wasn't)- and I have vomit coming up near the back of my throat from El Estomago. This sucks !

Is this acid reflux disease? How may I remedy this?

It's very scary. I am afraid I might choke. Sometimes, I start coughing, and my eyes cry/water, because it's hard to breathe and Junk.

I don't wanna be like The Mommas and the Poppas- and Choke on a Ham Sammich- or vomit.

Please help, medical students/ experts!

yep, that's acid reflux - this is gonna sound crazy, but eat a couple marshmellows before bed. It'll create a layer that floats on the stomach acid an stops it from backing into ur throat. Stay away from tomatoes, onions, chocolate, peppermint, and juices. Also, go see ur doctor. Acid Reflux can turn into Barret's Disease after awhile and raise ur risk of esophogial cancer. There's some really good medications out there that will fix it right up.

Don't eat so late at night.

sounds like acid reflux
try sleeping on your back with your upper body elevated also...go to the pharmacy...ask the pharmacist to recommend you a med for this! and dont eat too close to bedtime

This does sound like acid reflux. You should try to take some medicine like Zantac before bed time or after you eat. My bf gets this all the time cuz he likes spicy foods. He doesnt have problems after taking the medicine. Try it and see if It works

Sounds like acid reflux or gerd to me....It used to happen to me all the time. go see a Doctor, depending on what causes it, it can be treated. in the meantime, don't eat or exercise within 4 hours of going to bed. Raise your head either with pillows or by raising the head of your bed. Pay attention to what you've eaten prior to each attack and avoid those foods until you've started treatment. I've had this problem for over 25 years. it is possible to deal with, but you need to deal with quickly because it can damage your throat.

Acid reflux or Pertussis (whooping cough). With whooping cough, often you cough so hard that your throat closes. Also, might want to see a doctor if you're that worried. They'll be able to treat/diagnose you better than anyone here...most likely.

soounds like gerd. go see your doctor and tell him this. you need strong antacids which are prescribed not the over the counter ones. i had this also and they will not work. the doctor will also put you on a special diet so you don't eat specific foods especially tomatoes.

sounds like acid reflux. go to the doctor as soon as you can, because that needs to be treated. Sometimes OTC remedies help, but it can lead to other more serious problems if left untreated.

It sounds like GERD. Try OTC meds for a week or so. If nothing helps, see a doctor. The acid that is coming up is damaging the tissue in your throat and esophagus. Don't let it keep happening.

Hi.
Two Ideas:

1) Do not go to bed full. Make sure you stop eating at night at least 3-4 hours before you hit the bed.

2) make sure your head is raised on a pillow (including your neck)

3) you might have to raise the headboard part of the bed and mattress with some wood planks - about 4 inches

4) if none of the above help - you may have to get medication - and yes, it sounds like some sort of acid reflux.

This is important to work on, since you could develop ulcers in the esophagus from sitting acid on the linings.

5) keep water next to your bed, maybe a stainless steel bowl and towl (for boo boo's) while you are working this out.

I wish you well.

You could have acid reflux, but not neccesarily. Try not to eat spicy foods and don't eat too late at night. If you wake in the middle of the night, mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with about 1/2 cup of water and drink. This will help tremendously. I do recommend you see a doctor, so he can diagnose you properly and treat your condition.

You have acid reflux disease. I have the same exact thing. I had to go to my doctor to be prescribed medication and also discuss changes in my eating habits. Example, no more spicy foods was the biggy. Sad. Go to your doctor.

do you smoke or does anyone around you smoke? if so this could be a reaction to the tar and other stuff thats in cigarettes - a form of smokers cough, some people cough in the day, others at night, some even cough pretty much constantly. if not then it may be wise to see a doctor

im a medical assistant and i truely believe that you have acid reflux or GERD you should really talk to your medical provider and get the advice that you need. he/she can call in a prescription for you and it is definately treatable

Sound like acid reflux go to the drug store and talk to the pharmacist and they may be able to help u with some over-counter medicines.

Acid reflux or gerd. Take something like prevacid, prilosec, zantac,or other proton pump inhibitors. If this doesn't help go to the doctor and have test done. It could be hiatal hernia that is keeping food from going down to stomach and not being fully digested. Also try to eat slower and eat several mini meals during the day. Don't eat or drink anything 3 hours before bedtime.

GERD is acid reflux disease and it can get really bad, especially at night. Prevacid is one over-the-counter remedy, but you might need a prescription if this is very bothersome with the tips mentioned above.

Sleep with your head elevated - tilt the whole bed to elevate your upper body.

Don't eat snacks at night. Eat your last meal for the day at least two hours before you go to bed. Avoid spicy foods. If it continues to bother you, see a doctor. GERD can be serious in some cases.

if you are to the point where you are vomiting in your sleep, see your doctor! this could be more than just mere acid reflux disease. it could have rpogressed to a hiatal hernia, a condition caused by acid reflux disease or even from going to bed on a full stomach too many times. your doctor can best advise you on what to do for your own specific symptoms.

You may have acid reflux disease, Do you eat late at night before going to bed? or lay flat after eating?
If you answer yes to the last two question you may have acid reflux disease.
Make appointment with your primary physician or a GI doctor.
