What causes excess clear mucous or saliva to accumulate in a person's throat.? |
Have been diagnosed with acid reflux but don't have heartburn or regurgitation of food but a constant buildup of mucus and saliva in throat, nasal congestion at night and cough at night. Feels as though I have constant symptoms of cold without fever or chills. Your situation sounds like allergies. If that is indeed what it is, you could probably get some relief with antihistamines. See a doctor for a prescription. If you want to try something yourself first, try Alavert over the counter. The mucus is probably drainage from your sinuses. That could also explain the coughing. I think that is your bodies response to having the acid in the esophagus all the time. Kind of like when you breathe in something that your lungs dont agree with (clorox)the natural response is to produce mucous. I think its just your bodies way of trying to protect itself. Look at WEBMD to see the long term effects of GERD or acid reflux |
