What does it mean "take one tablet before eating"?

i bought over- the-counter tablets for acid reflux. The package says take one tablet in the morning before eating. How long before I eat?

All the meds i had in the past were taken with food.

Basically it needs time to get to work before you eat something that causes the reason your taking it for, I would say 30 min before be on safe side.

About 15 minutes before eating.

Probably at least 20 or 30 minutes....enough time for them to start to do their job.
