I AM SUFFERING FROM DIFFICULTY BREATHING, IT MORE WHEN I TRY TO TAKE A DEEP BREATH IT HARD TO INHALE DEEPLY.?

THERE IS A LOT OF THE FLU AND COLD GOING AROUND BUT I HAVE NO OTHER SYMPTOMS, I GET A PAIN IN MY BACK EVERY NOW AND THEN WHEN I INHALE IN. I ALSO SUFFER FROM REALLY BAD ACID REFLUX IF THAT HAS ANY THING TO DO WITH IT?

Wow thank you all for you answers but i feel fine im just having a bit of trouble catching a deep breath, i get it every 5 or 6 times i try. also im only 19 years old, i mean could it be that serious? and the pain in my back is a little stabbing pain in my left shoulder under my scapula.

go to the docs asap

this would be a cause for concern to me.go to your A and E department.

Sounds like pleurocy should see your doctor.

If you are having a hard time breathing, call an ambulance and go to the hospital. If you are having pain when you inhale, it can be any number of things from pneumonia to a collapsed lung. Go see a dr.

go to your gp think you have a lung infection there could be fluid in ur lungs as your lungs are at the back go and get checked out

I suggest you see your Doctor, as this could be the on start of a heart attack or angina. the symptoms are very similar, yes you get pain in back and the front pain could be the heart. also don't want to scare you but if you have that much pain on inhaling could also be a clasped lung. see the Dr just to have yourself checked out.

If you are in the UK ring NHS direct on 0845 46 47.

It could, but it could also be something like pleurisy.(a lack of fluid around your lungs or the fluid is too thick) Best to talk to your doc.

Depends if you are running of not!

Ask Nhs direct (www.nhsdirect.co.uk) or see your G.P if its really getting to you.

-If you get chest pains atall or are over 55 years or are obese or very underweight, (BMI UNDER 15 OR ABOVE 30) ignore all the above and go straight to A&E, as it could be related to your heart and could be your hearts under strain which could lead to a heart attack and you could die.

Its hard to say whats up with you but it could just be early symptoms of the flue, and your bodies just trying to MAKE you slow down so it can repair itself and make you well again.
Or it could be more serious- so if its still there in two days or gets worse and you are sure its not the flue or milder, get to the G,P/A&E as soon as possible.

But also remember, it could be psychosomatic, e.g the more you worry about it, the worse it feels despite there being nothing wrong! try to go about things as normally as possible to divert your mind to see if you forget about it, if you do end up forgetting about it? well that says it all!

Was the onset fairly sudden? - I had this and it was a rib that was aliitle out of place - I started to see a chiropractor and he fixed it completely within 6 visits. The ER doctor had no idea what it was. Anti-inflammatories help with the pain. Good luck

Do you have a feeling of not being able to get a satisfying deep breath? your condition would seem to be stress related, it could be that you are hyper-ventilating, if you are, just try to be calm, then get a paper bag, use it to breath into for a while, this reduces the oxygen level of the blood and you will become calmer. Hope this helps, if not, get in touch with NHS DIRECT, they're in the phoone book you can discribe your symptoms with more detail and they will advise you of what you need to do.

sounds like pleurisy,see the qwack

go see a doctor at once could be serious you dont mess about with problems like that.or may just someting else but get checked streigh away

If your suffering breathing difficulties get to A&E now. Your body cells may be not getting enough oxygen. The pain may be muscular but it could be something more serious. The acid reflux could be because your swallowing whatever you cough up. I have COPD because I was walking round with pneumonia for five months and didn't realise. The staff will check you out, and even if there is nothing wrong no one will criticise you for wasting time. The NHS is there for just this kind of thing. Good luck.

you have not mentioned if YOU have had a cough /flu recently.

it may be effects of the flu on your lining of your wind pipe.
you may also be a mild asthmatic, though usually asthmatics have diffuclty breathing out rather than breathing in.

it is important also to know if you have "noisy " breathing.
but your problem is difficult and dangerous to diagnose on a forum such as this. if you feel in any way affected and it is not getting better, you must go to the accident and emergency as soon as possible.
