With reflux what food is best to eat?

I suffer from acid comning back up and burning my throat

I am not a doctor, so either way you will want to talk to them, but this is what I have to say as a long time sufferer of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.)!

Three part answer information, what not to do, and what to do!

INFORMATION!!!!!!
I have a very severe case of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.). I have had to go to the hospital for some of the heartburn that I have had because the pain can become overwhelming or your breathing can be effected. It can be caused by Smoking, Drinking Beverages with caffeine (My case), Drinking Beverages with Alcohol, or can be Hereditary

The good thing about G.E.R.D. is that it can be a temporary thing and can be cured. It is never a permit thing even if you end up with it for the rest of your life it has the ability to be cured.

G.E.R.D. is caused by too much acid being created in your stomach. This can lead to or cause ulcers, esophagus damage, heartburn and/or damage in the mouth.

WHAT NOT TO DO!!!!!!!!
In most cases, stress is a factor to the reflux if you watch what you eat and reduce some of the stress it will help. If you watch what you eat for about a week you should find relief, if you do not then that is when you definitely what to listen to the doctor. Things to watch for are as follows:

Fatty Foods
Citrus Foods
Foods That Contain Grease
Fried Foods
Chocolate (including any Coco)
Caffeine
Smoking
Alcohol
Tomato Based Products
Lactose

WHAT TO DO!!!!
The two foods that I recommend is Black strap Molasses and Raw honey. The apple is better for night time reflux while these will work for just about all of it. What you will do is take about a tsp. of whatever one you chose. Molasses being the better because of strength and nutrition, but must be use to the taste. What the substance will do is stick to the sides of the esophagus and do two things, one is heal and the other is protect.
On the healing end, both substances have a healing property in them, and as they sit on the walls of the esophagus they will heal it. This is also helpful if you have a sore throat in the morning from refluxing.
On the protection end, both substances are high in sugar and when acid that is refluxed comes up to that the sugar will neutralize it and it will not longer be a problem at that point.

I would also look to putting Cinnamon and Ginger in you diet, they have been know to help with digestion and will help you reduce the amount of acid needed to brake down food, therefore causing you to reflux less.

bland things like oats, avoid grease and spice.

Get to the doctor and get some metaclopramide

You should see you doctor if that happens all the time.He might give you a diet sheet to follow.

avoid spicy, chocolate, alcohol and caffeine, geez what else is there??

I suffer from reflux too. Avoid everything yummy, basically...

Seriously, here's the list my gastroenterologist gave me. Avoid citrus fruits and juices, onions, alcohol, tomatoes, caffeine in coffee and tea (even decaf) fatty foods, fried foods, chocolate, mint, eating after 7pm, and eating large meals.

Everyone is different, so you'll have to experiment a bit to see which of these foods are worst for you. Some may not even affect you personally, and others that aren't on the list may be really bad for you yourself. So keep a food diary for a few weeks, and write down everything you eat, and what your symptoms are. I know it's tedious and annoying, but it really helped me see what foods cause me to have reflux, and what foods don't. See a doctor if you keep on having problems, because serious reflux can cause other severe problems if not treated properly.

Go and see your Doctor and ask him for Lanzaprozole. I have the same problem and I take one capsule a day before my evening meal, and don't suffer any problems apart from not being able to lie flat in bed - you need to keep your head higher than your stomach, obviously. Try not to drink alcohol in any form just before going to bed as this aggravates the condition. You could ask the Doc to send you to the hospital where they put a small camera down into the stomach just to make sure their is no major problem, like an ulcer, etc.(I think this is called a laparoscopy) Also, Gaviscon tablets or liquid helps to ease the nasty feeling after acid has come up.

Superman, these foods help!

Habanero and Bhut jolokia peppers
5 Alarm Chili
Jambalaya
Thai lemongrass soup
General Tso's chicken
Szechuan shrimp
Buffalo chicken sandwich
Assorted fruit juices (grapefruit, oranges, kiwi, apricots)
Onion rings
Ghirardelli chocolate
Wasabi
Oriental mustard
Italian salad dressing

If you're still suffering, resort to straight whiskey or wild turkey.

I read that it is parasites that cause reflux. It said that the parasites attach themselves to the edge of the upper part of the stomach just below where the esophagus goes through the diaphragm. After awhile there are so many of them (and the shells they leave when they change form stay there) that this damages the elasticity of that part of the stomach and it gets loose and slips up a bit into the diaphragm which permits acid to leak upwards.

Getting rid of too many parasites could reduce the problem (with the help of a sensible parasite cleanse program - Hulda Clark - The Cure For All Disease explains a lot). Then you won't have to worry so much about what you eat.

As far as what you are eating - try to eat substances that don't need huge amounts of bile to break them down. You will find great advice about this problem at CureZone.com

You really need to get it checked. I suffered from it for years until may this year. I thought i was having a heart attack... it wasn't but i was diagnosed with GORD Gastro-Oesaphageal Reflux Disease and a Hiatus Hernia. You could be at high risk from cancer of the oesaphagus caused by the acid eating away at the lining. I now take Lansoprazole every day, which has worked wonders. You should avoid smoking, alcohol. I can't eat cucumber, tomatoes, raw onion, apples, and citrus fruit.

You need to eat foods that are low in acid. Foods like apples, bannas, baked potatoes broccoli, cabbage, carrots, green beans, peas, ground beef, extra lean, chicken fish, with no added fat, cheese, mulitgrain white bread, cereal, bran or oatmeal, corn bread, graham crackers. salad dressing- low fat.

NO grapefruit or oranges.

i get that too, its horrible!! i avoid oranges/orange juice/vinegar/ anything sharpe in taste really coz i get it worse at night in bed, i rely on renees etc..so i hope it helps!!

Apple cider vinegar is supposed to help.
