??????????????

Ok so I get pretty bad reflux. Not usually heatburn, just nausea/acid and stuff.
I had a Fundoplication 10 years ago.

A few months ago I had an endoscopy and my surgeon said my esphogus was inflamed, mucus covered and really scarred.

I woke up this morning with this sore throat. My mum (im only 13) looked down my throat with a torch and said she could see mucus bumps or something. And I can feel the mucus.

Also my chest is hurting on and off around the centre area and towards the left. Sort of like heartburn. No other symptoms except a bit of fatigue, and everytime I swallow I can feel the mucus/

Any idea whats wrong? A complication with my reflux? or something like that.

Im on daily meds but they dont really work.

HELPPP!!! thanks. I dont think this is just a cold

Your esophagus is inflammed because you have ongoing reflux. The sore throat is secondary to gastric acid that refluxes and burns your throat. This is made worse when you are recumbent (lying down). The chest pain you are experiencing is heart burn (when the gastric acid irritates the esophagus).
Obviously....your fundoplication did not work because you have ongoing reflux.

Sounds like significant oesophagitis with occassional regurgitation of gastric contents all the way to your oral cavity. Having the fundoplication makes this even more likely.Your PPI meds (proton pump inhibitors) could probably be increased...eg.prilosec from 20 to 40 mgm/day. Make sure H.pylori is not an issue.
