Acid reflux . . . .?

Has anyone successfully and (so far) permanently treated acid reflux through weight loss and improved diet? I don't want to be on a pill for the rest of my life.

Also, has anyone ever inhaled stomach acid? What was it like for you? Did you need immediate medical assistance?

The answer to your question is absolutely yes, acid reflux can be controlled with an improved diet - like you, I'm not interested in taking "a little purple pill" for the rest of my life and decided to figure out what was causing the problem. Caffeine is highly acidic, however I love coffee and couldn't imagine giving it up, so I simply reduced the number of cups I was drinking, and switched to a half & half blend (half decaf, half regular). I did not switch to a fat-free diet, however I reduced the amount of fats, meaning I stopped eating high fat cheeses and switched to "reduced fat" cheese, I stopped using oily salad dressings and instead, purchased light salad dressings ...etc. Also, I stopped eating at night (which is a good idea anyway). I stopped eating a few of the spicy dishes I used to enjoy, and found that I feel much better. As long as I follow these few guidelines, I am symptom-free, and do not need antacids or any medications.

Well i have gerd another form of acid reflux and i know i need to lose weight and improve my diet because the medicine i take can have bad side effects in the future like not being able to control my body like my jaw or my tongue. so yeah you should improve your lifestyle. and acid reflux can cause cancer
