Dwarfism??

ok my boyfriends mum is a Dwarf (Achondroplasia) his brother also has this. If me and my boyfriend were to have children is there a chance that they could inherit this too??
my boyfriend does not have it.

There is a 50/50 chance of the gene being passed down although your boyfriend did not fully inherit the dwarfism.
But if you do plan on a child and he/she does not have it, there is still that chance that their child can pass the gene as well. Nobody will know for sure what the outcome will be.

Chances are likely, but that's not the real issue, bringing a baby into the world is hard enough without worrying how tall he/she is going to be....children are a big step, should you decide to take it....just know that above all, a child needs love.

Not likely. Achondroplasia is a dominant genotype, meaning that if your boyfriend were a carrier, he would have the condition.

That being said, according to the NIH, up to 80% of cases are caused by random genetic mutation and those who have the condition have no family history. So while there is a very very very slight chance that your children would be born with achondroplasia, that chance is no greater than it is in the general population.

Although there is no way to tell the genes your boyfriend has, he cannot be a carrier of the disease because it is a dominant disorder, so one bad copy of the gene would mean he is a dwarf also. So 0% Chance
