Heal a torn calf muscle? |
what do you do for a torn calf muscle and torn achilles tendon? I'm pretty sure it's just healing but are there any home remedies or over the counter remedies to deal with the severe pain associated with this type of injury? There are 3 grades of severity when dealing with a muscle/tendon. Grade 1: mild swelling and pain, small microtear in muscle belly/tendon. Grade 2: moderate swelling and pain, partial gross tear of muscle belly/tendon. Grade 3: severe swelling and pain, gross deformation of muscle and tendon, full tear of muscle/tendon from bone. In Grade 3 you would see that your calf muscle has rolled up towards your knee and you would not be able to point your toes. This would require surgery and in real life, the only one that needs a doctor visit. The other grades require you to go easy on it and practice RICE techniques (rest, ice, compression, elevation above heart) and going non-weight bearing most of the day (ie crutches). Advil will help with pain and swelling. My advice: if you have severe pain and deformity (muscle feels likes a ball in the back of your leg), go to the doctor. Unfortunately your answer is NO. You need to immediately see an orthopedic specialist to check out your leg. If you did indeed tear your calf and achilles tendon, I am assuming that you cannot walk. You need to see a doctor, it could be very serious (I'm writing an Essay about it right now) |

well i dont take ballet but i can assume that when you stand on ur tipitoes and then do all those things people can get injuries very often. most of the ballet consists of ur feet movement too ...Most likely just a sprain. They can hurt like heck!!!! I've had enough of them in my lifetime. Just basically do what your school nurse said to do. Wrap it in an ace, and try not to walk on it... I had it when I was younger and yes - it does hurt like hell. I was diagnosed when I was 7 and was in a lot of pain when I tried to run around with the other kids. None of the physio excersises hel... All sprains feel like that? Relax, it will hurt constantly.. As for the moving aroung, maybe you have an alien larva in your tendon :) ...I'm sorry I'm not a doctor but it sounds like you sprained it. If it doesn't feel better in a day or two I'd go have someone look at it to be sure. ...No one here can answer your questions! That's for the medical community! Try finding a reputable orthopedic surgeon and have him re-evaluated. As for the first quack, a good lawyer and a medic... There is a slight chance that you tore a ligament and it healed improperly. This creates a problem, because if this is the case, the reason you are still having problems is because scare tissue has... It can take up to a year or more to heal. You need to follow the advise of your doctors. What is wrong with surgery? Ligaments won't heal on their own if they're torn. Talk to your doctor... |
