What did i do to my ankle??

Well, yesterday in gym we were playing tennis, and i went for a ball and my ankle went to the side and my leg was straight, and i slid a little over a foot on my ankle, it is swollen, and it hurts to walk expecially up and down stairs, my achilles tendon area hurts alot, i cant really bend it or anything, when i fell, my leg and foot was numb for about a minute. and iwas wondering what can be wrong with my ankle.

the school nurse said to do the "RICE" (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevate)
and i am doing that, she also said i should stay off of it for the weekend, and it should get better. and if it doesnt i should go to the Dr.

i also play golf, and i tried to tough it out at practice, and i went to practice in the sand, and i just stepped on a little sand bump and it hurt so bad. and i cant really walk straight on my foot, because it feels like it will collapse on me.

what are some of the possibilities of injuries that i can have?

Most likely just a sprain. They can hurt like heck!!!! I've had enough of them in my lifetime. Just basically do what your school nurse said to do. Wrap it in an ace, and try not to walk on it, and if you have to, immediately afterwards, put ice on it and elevate it. It will hopefully feel better then. If you cannot walk at all on it, then i'd suggest using crutches for about three days, if it's a sprain, but while using them, put gradual pressure on it. If it does not get better though, you could have broken a small bone, or had a very bad sprain, in which, you may have to get a cast, or use crutches for longer. Hopefully that is not the case though. Good luck and hope you feel better.

GET TO YOUR DOCTOR AND HAVE IT LOOKED AT!!!!!!!!!!
You probably tore some cartilage or a ligament. It might be just a bad sprain but I don't believe so. You'd better go on and get to the doctor and see what damage you did. Don't waste any time, joint injuries can go from bad to worse.

yeah your school nurse is right just give your ankle a rest for couple of days and put ice on it.

xoxox,
Yes you injured your ankle but you should have your mom take you to the hospital. Your ankle should be examined,
I agree with the nurse RICE she knows what she is talking about but if you are experiencing the pain and symptoms you say get that ankle checked. Skin temperature may also play a clue if its warm it might be fractured and if its hot to touch broken bones but GET THAT CHECKED.

The least might be a twist or sprain
major could be broken bones.
but only the doctor and xray can determine this

Rest meaning to lay down with a few pillows under the affected part.

Ice crushed ice to bring down the swelling which causes the discoloration

Compress wrap your injured using a tensor bandage

Elevation when laying down elevate the foot to get the blood seepage away which causes discoloration. When the swelling goes down change to heat
