Abscessed tooth extraction ?? costs ?? |
I think I am in the middle of being ripped off. I haven't had enough money to have my teeth worked on and now I have an abscessed tooth and I went back to my dentist I had been seeing for 30 years before I got poor. they charged me $122 to take an x-ray of that one tooth to see if there was enough tooth to save to make a crown and then said there wasn't and then they are sending me to someone they say is good at extracting an abscessed tooth and they want about $600 to extract this tooth, They say they want to charge me an extra $275 to put me under because I might feel some pain ????? what is going on here, I am being charged almost $900 to have one tooth extracted. ?? anyone in the dental field know prices ? I need help as I have to borrow all this money ????????? I had an abscessed tooth extracted today. I had never been to this dentist and my insurance was not going to cover him, because he's not in my HMO. I heard he was the best, so I called them Fri. in so much pain, I could have jumped off a bridge. I went in this a.m., they did a digital x-ray, and once he saw the tooth had to come out, he numbed it big time. I swear, after he numbed the area alot..I never felt the needle either, but I think my pain from the abscessed tooth took over anything else at that point, but all I felt was pressure..like when he pulled the tooth out. When it was done, I literally cried, cause I was so happy and expected to be in SOOO much pain and I wasn't at all!! It was all over in 5 mins., or less, and I've been fine all night. This doctor charged me $179.00 for xray and extraction. My other dentist would have given me meds first, and would have sent me to another dentist to have it pulled. I think if I were you, I'd call around. The nurses told me that I did not feel any pain because this dentist knows how to mix the pain meds to numb the area well enough that none of his patients ever feel pain. When I called them Friday, they did say they had payment plans, since my insurance would not cover him. Don't know.. Definite rip off. I had to have a tooth out today - it cost $200 all up. That included an x-ray too. They just numbed the whole area big time, a bit of pressure and pulling and it was out. Find another dentist. |
