Mouth related abscess or infection! Help!?

Here's the basics of what happened:
My lower mouth swelled up literally hard and oh so painful last year around my lower jaw, my tongue was sore, etc. By far the worst pain ever!

I had my tongue pierced twice, my wisdom tooth had been coming in and I was bleaching my teeth all around the time this occurred! I ended up rushing to the dentist who X rayed my mouth along with locating what seemed to be an abscess centered behind my bottom front teeth. They stuck some needle like utensil down into my gum, drained the infection, gave me some meds and pain pills and all was well after that!

My tooth wasn't dead because I did the ice test and there still appears to be a bump of scar tissue or something where the, "abscess" was and my dentist says everything looks ok but I have been getting headaches which usually is a rarity for me.

Am I being paranoid or should I get a 2nd opinion?
I reads about that kid that had a tooth abscess that spread to his brain and I am concerned! HELP!

Did you go to the dentist a year ago for this tooth and have done nothing since?? You probably need a root canal. If your tooth is abscessed, you can't leave it like that or it will get bigger, then you will lose your tooth from all of the bone loss. Infected teeth can cause headaches also.

If you are this upset, you'll need to take some actions to ease your fear. Yes, go see as many doctors as you can afford.

I really don't think you should worry about a brain abcess unless your mouth is totally neglected. Having said that, if your dentist took an X-ray of the area, she/he would have easily seen if the abcess was still present.
Rest easy, but consider getting rid of the mouth piercing, I have seen a lot of damage to teeth and gums from them........often requiring a lot of money to repair the situation!
