How to get rid of a boil?

This is kinda embarrassing but i think i have a boil n its on my bum! Well its kinda on the side of my cheek near the crease of my bum and it bloody hurts!!!
My bf had an abscess before and thought it might be that and he had 2 have sergary but i dont think its that as its sore and red and only happened in the last wk so im pretty sure its a boil, there more common.
Any ideas how to treat them as its kinda hard 2 sit down!
Thanks

A hot poultice, get some cotton wool and soak it in hot water with a drop of TCP and hold it on the boil for a few minutes,do this a couple of times a day, you will find that it will soothe it and draw it after a while, hope this helps.

Cheers voters for choosing my answer! Kailey I hope you have got rid of the boil now. Good luck! Report It

I think you need to see your doc!!

Never treat a boil. What's it ever done for you?

Make a Dermotologist appointment.

a doc can numb it and slice it open. would take about 30 minutes for the whole thing. other than that, get some really strong face cleaning cream and put on it to draw it to the surface. after a couple of days, stick a steril needle in it to puncture it to allow it to start draining out.

you need to see your GP.antibiotics are needed because boils are deep-rooted.the doc will lance it and clean it but the inside infection needs treatment or it will just return.

Go to a doctor and get it lanced. It hurts like hell at first, but trust me, you'll be glad you did. Your local doctor can do this.

Wait until you get a white head on it, then you will have to prick it with a pin (use a lighter on the pin prior) to burn off germs, then squeeze the crap out after pricking it!! ease the pain for now by putting a plaster over it as you maybe rubbing it when walking etc (oh them long term survival days!!)

You need to go see a doctor, the boil could be a result of something else happening (diabetics are prone to boils)

the location of the boil may be embarrassing for you to get rid of, but here is a old home remedy for getting rid of them:

get a glass bottle (years ago glass pop bottles worked well), with a small opening.
boil the bottle (make it really, really hot)
place the opening of the bottle over the boil, if the bottle is too hot, let it cool a little bit.
quickly wrap the HOT bottle with a COLD towel... this will cool the air in the bottle and a cause suction that will pull the boil out.
If you repeat this a few times for a couple of days, you will suck the root out.

It depends how big it is.
sometimes it needs antibiotics to get rid of it,
or you could use a pultice, by getting some sulphate paste from your pharmacy.
it is pretty embarrassing, i had one in pretty much the same place and i couldn't walk with it :s
also i know its pretty gross, try and get the infection out if you are able to, as they will keep coming back it you do not get out the main 'core' of the boil
i hope this helps because i do sympathise

Soaking in a hot tub can help it to pop if it's not too deep otherwise you'll have to wait for it to go away. It will go away faster if you eat less toxins, junk food, greasy, etc and clean out your system with fresh fruits, juices and veggies. Or if you have the stomach for it take a clean exacto knife and lance it!

The best solution would be for you to go see a doctor as soon as possible. The boil can get worse and it would have to be opened up thus leaving a scar. A doctor can prescribe antibiotics for the boil so it can heal

Dont put face cleanser or anything strong or you'll sitng the crap outta your bum, (ignore the pun). Make up a poultice of breadsoda and water, until its kind of a cement like texture and apply it to the offending area and hold it htere with a warm cloth or a bandage (although that could be awkward!!) it should draw out the puss and gik. If you drink a lot of fizzy drinks or sweet things they can cause boils, just a head up for future references!

You probably need to get it seen, embarrasing I know, but sometimes they have to be drained.
You could also try buying a jar of Magnesium Sulphate paste which you put on a dressing and place directly over the boil, it's very sticky stuff but good and available from Chemists.
I draws the gubbins out of the boil with out breaking the skin and you made need to reapply dressings, preferable do them overnight only, each day for 2-5 days. Hope this helps.

In a day or two it should develop a head, a yellow centre (if you can see it), at that point you can either squeeze it (slight discomfort) until it breaks, or apply a bread poultice.
Of course you could opt to visit your doctor. He'll have a good look, and poke, around and then sell you another poultice concoction.

You can get magnesium sulphate paste from a chemist its about 拢1:50 and it is a drawing ointment for boils. You just apply a bit and then put a plaster over it and it will draw all the puss out. You apply it maybe once or twice a day, should go in a few of days.
Good luck!

Its an abcess, aboil should have a head by now.
