What is exostosis? |
i went to a endodontist because i thought my abscess had not gone away after my root canal but he says it is exostosis. what is that??? Extra boney growth on the jawbone. (actually it's just bone growth on bone). It's nothing to worry about except that some people get them so large that they have them removed because they get sore from food and things hitting it. Some people have to have them removed also to have dentures put in, because the dentures won't fit over them properly. But it's not cancer or anything bad like that......your body just grew some extra bone. Some people have prominent bones that stick out on the sides just above or below where the teeth are underneath the gums. This just means your bone sticks out more than most people. when something is being secreted or released |
