What is the best way to reduce swelling on my cheek from an absess? |
I had planned to go out tonight and my cheek is still swollen from my abscess (I had a tooth removed yesterday). You should go back and ask for Antibiotics. ice reduces swelling. Hi,,, try a cold compress on it..... it should take the swelling down.... ICE, you are going to have to pop it and let the abscess be released. it will hurt, but you will feel better after you've done this. ignore all above...... go back to your dentist!! You should put some ice on it to reduce swelling or go to your doctor if it persists anti inflamitary may be prescribed I had an abscess a couple of years ago (it was very painful so I can sympathise with you). I tried taking antibiotics and that reduced the swelling but only temporarily. In the end I just ended up having the tooth out. Use a mouthwash made from water and common salt - do not swallow HI. i had the same thing the other week as i was due to have a wisdom tooth took out. but because i had a abscess they would not do it me. i had to be put on a week antibiotics first 150mg then onto 500mg as i left it too late that i need stronger tablets to get rid of it. you can get from your dentist if you ring back to be seen as an emergency to since you had a tooth out. also tablets with ibuprofen helps too with the swelling and pain, I would ring you dentist back if you still haveing problems. hope that helps. Ice will help but if it's really not getting any better get advice from your local emergency dentist. Your own dentist should have details of who can help over the weekend An abscess is due to an infection. If you have recently taken the tooth out and if that is the etiology of the infection, you will have to allow time for the inflammation/infection to go through its course. Typically, anti-inflamatory and antiobiotics will help. Go back to your dentist, if the swelling persists or your symptoms increase. ICE OR BAYER ASPIRIN hi i have a absess at the moment and suffer from the regular my advise is go to the dentist he will give you antibiotics and the swelling should go if not you should go straight back and see him or her ........... good luck and hope it goes soon mine is in my right cheek and going into my eye.......but when you lay down the swelling gets worse....... |
