How do I get rid of my toothache?

I'm going to the dentist in two days, but it really hurts right now. I've done everything you can think of. Brushed them, used mouthwash, taken meds (which I am out of except for aspirin) I've put an ice pack on it. The abscess won't go away. I've even taken antibiotics. Nothing is working. I need some relief! My jaw feels like it's going to fall off. I can take a lot of pain but this is crazy!!!! Oh, the nerve IS exposed too which makes matters worse. Please help.... give me any and everything you've got.

Oh, and I don't have access to oil of clove.

I've had that....it was HORRID!! The only thing that worked for me was Vicodin....you should be able to call the dentist that you have an appt with and they should call you in a prescription. If not, about 800-1000mg of advil should do it along with an icepack.
I'm sorry you have to go through this...Good luck!

Clove oil diluted with wesson oil applied directly to it and left there for about 30 minutes will help. They also sell toothache kits that contains clove oil. It's nasty, but it will help!

You don't have to wait and suffer for two days my dear. All dentists should be able to attend to dental emergencies such as
yours. You need to get that fixed ASAP before you get a nerve damage which could lead to a much serious problem such as facial paralysis .Painkillers and antibiotics may give temporary relief and mask the pain but it does not eliminate the source of the problem.

Here are some tips for home treatment from webmd...

Rinse with salt n water take some pain killers from the chemist such as brufen 400mg and get an appointment with a dentist ...good luck..

crush up an asprin and make a paste with a little water. apply it right to the tooth that is in pain. also origel works alright. try to get to sleep my taking night time cough medicine. probably not advice your doc would recommend but thats what i did when i had my abscess about two weeks ago. oh yeah gargle with hydro-poroxide also.

I had a similar situation, my dentist was scared to call my pharmacy to give me some pain killers "hydrocodene", but he advised me to take take four (4) Tylenol together every 6 hours until my next appointment.

I hope that this is a good way, but I didn't try it because I got mad at him and ended up visiting another dentist.

try some oragel! If your nerve is exposed, Walmart sells this putty like stuff that you can stuff into the tooth to seal it off from being exposed, it is a temp filling until you can get it filled, but it sounds like your tooth is absessed, so not much can help you. call your dentist and tell them that you can't wait for two days, if he can't work you in, then call another dentist just to get you out of some pain until you see your dentist!!! Also, if your dentist knows you are in this much pain and won't do anything to help you or try his best to get you in his office then are you sure you want to go to a dentist that doesn't care about the fact that you are in severe pain. How ethical is that!?!? last resort, go to the ER!
