Wisdom Tooth Infection? |
On my last xray on Dec 14th, you can see my wisdom clearly and that there is no infection, no decay, nothing. The wisdom is partially out and streight. It is slowly coming in. I'm just curious if it is possible to get an infection in that tooth area..... even though there is no swelling, no redness, no tenderness... nothing. Is it possible? My jaw aches horribly but I have an abscessing tooth on a top molar. Not considering the top molar, is it possible for the wisdom to get an infection even though there is no redness, swelling, decay, tenderness or infection in the xray? Yes it is. Infection can begin at any point, and you wouldn't know it until you did see redness, swelling and tenderness. If you have a wisdom tooth on the top that is abscessing, the chances of that spreading to other teeth is higher. The jaw ache you have could be from that top tooth or the bottom tooth, or both in conjunction. Considering the misery that an infected and impacted tooth causes, and that wisdom teeth are infamous for both, I think you should return to the dentist and arrange for removal. Better out than in. If the gum around the wisdom tooth gets infected (pericoronitis), then you will know about it. You will get swelling, discomfort, and gunk oozing from the flap of skin. Infection from one tooth DOES NOT spread to another. |
