Does anyone out there suffer from hidradenitis / recurring abscesses ?

It is a very annoying condition. It is caused by infection of your sweat glands.
It is recurrent and very annoying indeed. Antibiotics, drainage may be required.
Good luck and see a doctor.

See the medical link below:

Hi, I have also suffered with this condition for many years. I was able to take advantage of researching it in the medical libary in the hospital where I worked. I could go into depth but the links you have already recieved will be beneficial. So my advice is to seek treatment when you develop a flare up and don't wait for it to get to severe. beware of shaving as trapped or new growth hairs can flare up attacks. If you are past childbearing years there are some potent medication available. keep skin clear of excess oils and perspiration. for severe problems in the armpits you can have an axillary clearance where a minor op removed the glands that become infected. As a last resort skin grafts can be
performed to clear the area entirely. I've had 2 and axillary clearance. So I wish you well and hope this helps.
