Abscess returns for the 3rd time? |
Back in December I had a perirectal abscess drained that was the size of an egg. It was very painful and I was glad when it was healed. 2.5 weeks ago I had a bump the size of a large pea come up on the same site as the abscess on the scar. After about half a day it burst and alot of blood kept draining from it. I called the after hours number for the surgeon and he said that I could have a secondary infection from the first one. I went in to see him and he said that I could have a fistula that was causing the abscess but that he wanted to wait to see what happens before he did surgery. Well..... last night i noticed that I had another small abscess on the same area and it popped too. Lots of blood..... I have an appointment to see him this afternoon. I just want to know what is wrong and if this is going to prompt him to look more into what is going on since this is the 3 one in about 2.5 months. Any one had this happen to them or had surgery because of it? I think with it recurring they need to explore a surgical option for it. If this continues and it continues to grow and be infected you run the risk of becoming septic and having a systemic infection. I would definately think that the doctor would want you to see a vascular surgeon for a consultation on how to more effectively treat this with an outpatient procedure. Sounds like what I had in 1987 wow it was so bad and painful |
