Wisdom tooth or abscess? |
my dentist told me i could "wait awhile" to have my wisdom teeth pulled, but they need to come out "eventually". Which is good, as i won't have any more than one day off in a row until September. Take it from someone who has had PLENTY of abscesses in her day, you do not have one. It sounds like the food that you got caught between your gum and tooth just irritated your wisdom tooth which is bound to come in eventually. i have had a abcess on my gum and it has nothing to do with my teeth as i had an x ray and they were fine what could it be from lespena Report It Listerine mouth wash works better than salt water. I would get that tooth removed before it really starts to hurt. After it really starts to hurt you won`t care about missing work. All you will be doing is trying to find a dentist to remove it. If it is an absess DO NOT use mouth wash in that area of your mouth frequently just to stop the pain. It will only irritate it more. Stop worrying. From your description; it shouldn鈥檛 be an abscess. The signs and symptoms of abscess typically include pus buildup, severe, continuous tooth pain, bitter taste and odor and possible fever. It shouldn鈥檛 be caused by your wisdom tooth. In my opinion, I think you have pain from gingivitis. The symptoms of gingivitis include swelling, redness, pain, and bleeding of the gums, like in your description. Just to be on the safe side, you should see a dentist to determine the actual reason. Not an abcess. An abcess is like a blister on you gums near the infected tooth. Your wisdom teeth are erupting and the food just irritated it. No biggie |

Antibiotics have a "tail"...that is, they work or continue to have an effect after you finish taking them. They do not remove the infection completely; only the extraction will do tha... well the antibiotics is good enough in the meantime for the infection.it will cause the swellng to decrease some so that the dentist can get a better look at it and/or treat it. if its too infected... yes i have heard of it my hubby had one and for some reason the lymph node didnt go down and he go 2 more. ...As a dentist, I can tell you that it is completely normal to experience headaches with any type of dental pain. It sounds as though you are on the right path to getting your abscess tooth cleared ... It is NOT ok to pull an abcess while the infection is still viable.
