Abscessed tooth treatment? |
My lymph node on the right side under my jaw is swollen and extremely sore along with the back of my neck when swallowing. I do have an abscess that I discovered a few days ago and am on antibiotics. It has not drained as of yet or burst and cant get in to see a dentist for 3 days should there be any concern? Or are the antibiotics good enough until I can see the dentist in preventing any serious spreading or complications? How long does it take for complications to begin? Any help would be greatly appreciated the abscess is upper mouth right side and the back two teeth and possibly gumline..... Excellent thanks for the responses have been on the antibiotics for only 2 days just finished my second day today.....Notcining a slight change.... well the antibiotics is good enough in the meantime for the infection.it will cause the swellng to decrease some so that the dentist can get a better look at it and/or treat it. if its too infected, you will be given antibiotics and told to eturn,so its good that you are"ahead of the game".you can take something for pain like ibuprofen or tylenol if having any.you can also try gargling some warm salt water to help with the swelling also.other than that,i think you should be fine until the dentist can see you. good luck and hope i have been of help. The antibiotics should hold you over until you can get to see the dentist. For now, the tooth is stable and will remain that way until it gets drilled out for a root canal or is extracted. I unknowingly lived with an abscessed tooth for over a year. I didn't know it had an abscess until the dentist showed me on an x-ray. The tooth really didn't hurt me or otherwise bother me aside from feeling a little sensitive when I drank hot liquids. infection in the mouth can be very dangerous. if youve been on antibiotics for a few days with no change, you need to go back. dont wait much longer to be seen. the infection can go up into the brain. goodluck. |
