Abortion Question--I'm so upset with my friend!?

My friends are getting married next june. My husband recently confided in me that his best friend told him his fiancee was pregnant and that they decided to have an abortion. His fiancee used to joke with me about how irresponsible she is with her birth control (like taking 3 at a time b/c she would forget) and that she would probably end up pregnant. Well, I have totally lost all respect for her and him. They were irresponsible, knew it, and made a horrible decision. The problem is that my husband told me, not her so I can't bring it up (not that I would anyway). It wouldn't have interefered with the wedding at all b/c it would have been born in March, and the wedding is late June. I figure it's because the Catholic Priest wouldn't have married them and she HAS to get married in her Catholic Church she grew up in! Is it just me, or is this awful?

I forgot to say that they want to have kids right after they're married...they always talk about it. They are both in their 20's and done with college so it's not like they're children.

that is terrible. If they are getting married and old enough to support a child then that is very wrong. The only ones who should consider getting aboortions are the girls that are under 18.....they cant provide a good life for a baby at that young age....not to say killing it is right either. People just need to smarten up.

You're entitled to your opinions on people who choose to kill their offspring. If you knew she was irresponsible with her body, why are you so surprised?

I would agree with you it is awful. It is also a sin to take another life if they are so religious. She will end up regretting it for the rest of her life.

On one hand, abortion is murder so your friend and her fiancee will have to answer for that when they get called before The Judge (HINT: The first time He was here He was called The Messiah). On the other hand, we're also taught that we are to forgive others just as God has forgiven us through the blood of Jesus Christ. I'm sure you've done things in your life that were irresponsible, or just things you're not proud of, so try to cut them some slack. Remember, the same Son of God who told us to forgive others as we have been forgiven also told us not to judge.

It's not awful at all. They decided the time is not right. People should have kids if and when they want them. Just because it's not the decision you would have made, does not make it the wrong decision for someone else.

If you really have lost all respect for her, then tell her and end the friendship.

Good think it's not your body and concious. Don't worry about it, it's not your life and not your place to place judgement.

Did you ever think about how she may of been a horrible mother to that child? Did you ever think that it may of been the best option for her? Not you

Don't push your judgements on others

If she is irresponsible with just taking birth control, what makes you think she is ready to have children. Do you know how much responsibility it take to raise a child? I don't mean to be rude she may be your friend but it isn't your business if she didn't tell you. Respect her decision because you may not know the entire story.
