What is the average amount of money that the NHS spends on abortions every year?

for gods sake dont get on your high horse people i dont think one way or another about it but im wiriting an essay on it and need the figures.

omg i wouldnt know, but i know that an abortion is about 拢300-拢500 so its a hefty amount.

Too much. Even one is too much.

i didnt know you could get an abotion on the NHS

Probably quite a lot, as teenage pregnancy rate is high in the UK. Im sure there are some statistics on line somewhere.

Why do you want to know? - do you have a problem with women having abortions on the NHS?

If so its a complicated issue, too complicated to go into here with your question which seems to me to be only about resentment about the cost of NHS terminations?
I am 54 and had a termination at 20 on the NHS which I do now regret but this is my problem/issue that I have to live with.................and do as any woman who makes this choice will for the rest of her life - no one does this lightly even if it might seem this way from the outside

But I do not in anyway object to NHS funded terminations as I truly believe that as it is legal in the UK if a woman wants it and they fulfil the criteria for the NHS - then it HAS to be their choice. I just hope that they get more counselling to make the decision and ongoing support afterwards than I did

If you are worried 'ONLY' about cost just think of the 'possible' ongoing cost to the state in terms of fostering/adoption/NHS mental health care/social services care/income support
For the woman, or the child, if a mother goes through with a pregnancy she really can not support

PS No one here knows the figures I guess?
If you want statistics this is not the place to ask at all!!!!!!!!!. You would need to contact the NHS record office and if you are a genuine student they will supply you with such figures.

Even if anyone on here could answer this accurately we could not substantiate it and this is necessary for proper research. I am not sure I believe that your only motive in asking this question was 鈥榩ure鈥?statistical research

But if so you should have explained yourself more fully if you want to ask a question about this subject as abortion/termination is a very emotive subject ( and for me and many women an ongoing sadness) so you have to be clear if you are doing research

So I am not personally getting on a 'high horse' - just answering your question in the only way I can given my experience and the question content.

If you are genuinely doing research into this, I humbly suggest that you can not with a subject like this separate the emotional content from the statistics. Unless you make it quite clear EXACTLY what information you require (I have and am still doing research too - into Post Natal Illness)

If you find out I would be interested too in your results 鈥?but I would also like to know the cost to the state of going through with an unwanted pregnancy?
Thanks
