My mom is uhh...mature women only please!!? |
So, my mom is 44 years old, in great shape, has 2 kids (10, 18) and she just found out she's 1 week pregnant, the thing is , she doesn't want a third child, because she thinks it will ruin her body again, (she had urinary incontinence, and labia reduction surgery last year) and she has had 5 or 6 abortions in her life (please no rude comments about that, it's not my fault, and we don't talk about that stuff,i was little at that time) so since she's only 1 week along, she wants to take a pill, sorta like the "morning after" pill, i don't want her to, i told her that she should keep the baby, and she wasn't that stubborn this time, she said talk to daddy, and i was like, "mom , this isn't another handbag i want, it's your baby we're talking about!! and a lifetime investment" , so what if my parents decide to keep the baby? is it safe to carry and give birth to a baby at this age ? she's 44. Will it ruin her previous cosmetic surgeries? please no mean comments, thanks It may ruin her previous plastic surgery, yes, but it's safe for her to carry a child at the age of 44. There are many more complications for a child born to a woman at 40 than a child born to a woman at 30, but it doesn't mean she won't be healthy afterwards. She probably just won't have a great body. Having a child at 44 itself can be dangerous more to the baby than herself, and you have to do alot more tests during pregnancy than if you were younger. Higher risk when you reach 30 years old I think. It's her body, not yours. She's the one that's going to be raising the baby, not you. Let her make her own decisions. Since your mom is in great shape, she should be fine carrying and giving birth to a baby. There are health risks to the child after the mother is older though, like downs syndrome. I dont know anything about the cosmetic part. It is completely her decision whether to have another baby. To be perfectly frank with you, your opinion doesn't matter here. If you want a baby, you can have your own. Are you sure she's only a week? Thats so impossibly early to find out you're pregnant. Anyway, no having a baby at 44 is not too old. She should have a healthy pregnancy. But if she doesn't want it, its her decision. She should consider having her tubes tied, its a great investment :) i think you should all have a chat with doctor and talk to see the complication if any would occur during/after preganany, as age, state of body, and cosmetic surgery may have affects during your moms pregnancy or the baby x i hope i've helped x i wish all the best for you guys xxx At 44 years old she is perfectly capable of having a healthy pregnancy. Yes, it is a little old to be popping out children, but nowadays it is a more common thing that it was way back when. Doctors and hospitals now have the technology to allow older women to give birth without seriously risking the health of the fetus or the mother. Since she is older, there is a chance that she will not carry the baby for the full-term of her pregnancy, but this doesn't necessarily mean that she will not be able to stay healthy and give birth to a normal, healthy baby. After age 35, the risk of down's syndrome and other disorders increase greatly, but that doesnt mean that she cannot have a normal child. Its just that theres a greater chance in older women. The surgeries shouldnt matter since theres a life at stake, but I think it should be her and your dad's decision ultimately. ... im sorry if i sound mean im really trying not to be. I agree with the people who say that this is a decision for your mother, hopefully in consultation with your father. A child is a big tie, and the likelihood of problems is greater with your mother's age. My mother was over 40 when she concieved my sister, and my parents still had a child at school when they were ready to retire. For my sister it was like being brought up by her grandparents. |
