Sex Ed for my school?

My school doesn't allow sex ed. Personally I think it dumb. Because of it we have had more abortions and teen pregnancy in our school than all the schools around us. One of my friends has already had sex and she doesn't tell her mother and does not know that it is so easy to become pregnant! And that protection is important! I believe that if our school is so afraid to teach it, why not have it as an elective in High School and have the parents agree to it. We do that with other classes! Also, out school freaks if even a little bit of that gets mentioned. Many of us students want to have a class of our own and get a handful of questions, see if others can answer them and than get a teacher to help and answer our questions we have difficulty with. Please give me ideas and your own opinions on this. It will help very much for my school. Thank you!

Well, on one hand... Be glad that you don't have some retard "Abstinance Only" government tool telling you that condoms are not reliable and that you'll only go to heaven if you stay chaist...

Is there any way that you can get books on sex ed from your local college and start an after school "Group" to teach this to eachother?

Personally, I think that it would make more of an impact if it is ALL people the same age. No "Adult" to tell you what is "Right" and "Wrong" or "Immoral"... JUST THE FACTS AND NOTHING BUT THE FACTS.

If you do a group thing you can contact your local planned parenthood or other small clinic and see if you can get all the girls vaccinated against HPV!

The manufacturer has a program for 'low income' people if someone doesn't have health insurance... In fact, I was the first one in my area to qualify to get the shot for free!!

Could you all go to someone's house and go online to research all of this? I know that Wikipedia has a strange reputation but I have found it to be quite accurate and if nothing else, directs you to external, reliable, resources on any topic you can think of...

Bring the increased negative affects of not having sex ed to the school boards attention.
Also, I recently read an article of a school in Maine that prohibited sex ed and girls as young as 11 were starting to become active. Sex ed is necessary!!

Well, first of all, thats not smart for your school to do that because it will cause a lot more girls to become pregnant or get deseases. Especially because its a highschool and that is when people start having sex. Start a petition, and send it to the school board, if you really think your school needs it.. This will give your school no choice but to begin a corse on sex ed.

Are you in Canada or the U.S? Also, what grades are you talking about? I believe in Canada its manditory for gr.5 to gr.10. In HighSchool they usually cover it in Calm. (Carreer and LIfe Management) The parents are able to sign a form and not allow their child to learn it, but it is taught for those who are allowed.

OMG they taught us tht in 5th grade!!!!

Sex ed is what's dumb. Those classes are usually headed by stupid liberals who promote "safe sex," ect.
