1) Is abortion murder?
2) are there any acceptions in which abortion is acceptable?(is yes, why only those)
3) is a fetus/unborn baby (in your oppinion) a conscience being?
4) In this non-abortion situation: a girl was born with a twin attached, head to head. The twin has a FULLY functional brain. It can feel, react, cry, sleep, etc. Is this twin alive?
5) is it more alive or more of a human being than a fetus/unborn baby?
6) same twin story: the twin has a lump of a body with no organs. http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Compon... do you still consider it a live human being?
7) Is it worse to seperate this "twin" which will die, or have an abortion? (sorry, not a yes or no answer)
8) comments feel free to message(IM) me or e-mail to get my view on abortion or just to debate, discuss this further 1) Is abortion murder? no. as long as it is done before the 4th month.
2) are there any acceptions in which abortion is acceptable?(is yes, why only those)yes. rape, molestation, not being able to take care of the child, if the mother isnt ready, health conditions. I personally would never get an abortion, but i dont think that it is right to have people outside of clinics screaming at them making them feel worse than they already do. if they want an abortion and maybe mess up their insides, its on them :D
3) is a fetus/unborn baby (in your oppinion) a conscience being?
yes.
4) In this non-abortion situation: a girl was born with a twin attached, head to head. The twin has a FULLY functional brain. It can feel, react, cry, sleep, etc. Is this twin alive? oh i saw that. yes. now if it was just a limb, or a face, then no.
5) is it more alive or more of a human being than a fetus/unborn baby?the conjoined twins? yes and no. they are about equal.
6) same twin story: the twin has a lump of a body with no organs. http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/compon... do you still consider it a live human being?
no.
7) Is it worse to seperate this "twin" which will die, or have an abortion? (sorry, not a yes or no answer)the previous twins? i think it would be worse to seperate. personally i would seperate though.
8) comments
i really think abortion is one of those topics that both sides are to blind to the other. i really hate how people can have sex and then just erase their mistake, but then again i think its wrong for groups of people to walk up and down busy malls that have kids with parents and show pictures of aborted fetus's screaming about how abortion is a sin. 1) Yes. The baby didnt do anything wrong. Dont kill for your mistakes.
2)No. Not even rape. Once again, it wasnt the babys fault so why take his life?
3)Yes. It is living and growing like us.
4)Yes! It can do everything a normal human can do. Why wouldnt it be?
5)I dont understand.
6)Most human beings cant live without organs.
7)Seperate the twin. It may have a chance. Donctors arent always right.
8) Very good survey. 1. No. I don't believe so. But don't do it "just to do it or that you don't want to suffer the consequences of your actions.
2. Yes. Loss of life or result of a rape
3. I don't think so. It is the VERY begining stages of life
4. I don't know the full story to be able to answer this question.
5. Again, I don't know.
6. No, it is just an extension of the one bdy, then.
7. Seperate the twin. Allow one life.
8. Thanks for letting me think about my answers. 1. no
2. yes, in cases where it is in the first trimester.
3. no
4. yes, but it can not live on its own.
5. no.
6. yes, but again it can not live on its own.
7. Depending on whether or not the mother feels she is able to care for the baby, and what trimester it is in. If the mother feels capable to have the baby then it would be best to have the twins and then separate the "parasitic" twin.
8. n/a 1) yes
2) No
3) yes
4) yes
5) yes. any breath means its alive and therefore a human being yes
6) yes
7) Bad to do either. The best thing in the case is to let God be God. If it be his will the baby will die on its own. No one can give life no one should take it.
Everything happen for a reason and I believe that God don't make no mistakes. Sometimes he allow us to experience things so we can trust him. 1] yes
2] yes, in cases where a baby is better off dead then alive. Abortion, is excusable if death would do the child justice. Meaning that the child would be better of dead than born. Like if the mother was just going to abandon it in a dumpster or something. And if the mother was a victum of rape. But I think that foster homes and orphanages exist. But if the mother is a drug addict, the baby will be in real pain when it is born and when it is in the mother. I think that an abortion would be excusable for that.
3] yes, and all human beings have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. What makes it a human being? A heart, brain, nervous system, bones, etc. All he characteristics of a living organism.
4] yes. but if the brain, is the only functional organ then it is not alive. The brain is.
5] no, a fetus/unborn baby is more alive than it.
6] no, because it does not have the characteristics of life--the ability to potentially reproduce [that doesn't mean it can, but is has the potential or once had the potential to do so], grow, develop, and adjust to changes in environment.
7] It is worse to have an abortion, because that would mean that the other twin would have to die too. Unless it would die anyways, during separation. That's another thing. If the baby is going to die anyways, then it should be aborted, but only if death would do it justice than life. This goes for some babies of Meth addicts, who might be nothing but skin and bones, because the mother was addicted to Meth. 1. no, its ending a life but murder is not the word that should be used.
2. Yes, if the mother will die from the pregnancy
3. no, its a being but not really conscience
4. yes
5. yes
6. yes, if the brain is functioning
7.separating the twin would be worse
it would be a very hard decision to separate the twin but itsnot fais to the healthy twin to have to go through life attached to a partially functioning sibling. 1)no
2)as long as it's in an early stage of pregnancy, I think any reason is your choice
3)no
4)yes
5)yes... it was born
6)no
7) If the mother wants the baby, than an abortion will be worse because she won't have either. 1) No, but unless you have a d*mn good reason for it, it's a rotten moral choice.
2) Yes: rape, accidental pregnancy, sheer stupidity of the mother, threat to the mother's health, likeliness of the baby to have a poor life outlook due to physical issues
3) Yes, a fetus after about 5-6 months is, No, an embryo is not... though I have a tough time with this because I feel as though my son had a will to live only 3 weeks after he was conceived--everyone thought I was going to miscarry but he hung in there to be born healthy at 37 weeks.
4) Yes, but only if it can THINK.
5) Yes, it's already been born.
6) Yes, it is a live human being, but its existence (I know of the story) threatens the life of its twin.
7) That really depends on whether you're talking about aborting a perfectly viable, "normal" fetus or a fetus that is anticipated to have this defect.
8) Interesting questions, my impression (from seeing the story elsewhere) was that the two twins couldn't live apart anyway because they share a substantial portion of their brain. If you had included this specific information in your questions I would say that these particular twins (but not necessarily other twins who can live attached) perhaps should have been aborted. 1. It depends on what stage of pregnancy the abortion is performed in. If it's the 2nd or 3rd trimester-the woman has no business having an abortion, she should have made that choice much earlier. "Aborting" a baby who could live outside the mother's womb IS murder.
2. Only two: rape and in the case of major health problems
3. I'm not sure what you mean by conscience...but yes, an unborn baby is conscience in the way that it can feel, hear, touch, and move.
4. yes
5. Depends on what stage the fetus is in-if its later in its development, its just as much alive as the twin
6. Sorry, but without organs, its kind of impossible to be alive.
7. Sorry, I'm kind of confused at to what's going on here, so I can't really form an opinion. 1) If murder is the intentional killing of a human being, then it depends on whether or not you believe that a fetus is a human being. Most scientists do not regard a fetus as a "person" until it reaches the second trimester, in which case an early-term abortion is not murder.
2) Again, it depends on your ideas of whether or not abortion is acceptable in the first place. I would think that if a fetus is known to have serious illnesses or deformities that will cause it to live a short and painful life of suffering, even if it is in a later term of pregnancy, then abortion may be acceptable.
3) Based on my medical understanding of the development of a fetus, it is NOT conscious until its brain stem and spinal cord have developed. It is conscious (to a certain degree which increases over time) after that moment.
4) Yes
5) Yes
6) Yes
7) Abortion would have been better, in my opinion. Once you have already given a child the opportunity to live, it is cruel to take that life away from it, even in the hope of saving the other twin. 1. No. In many cases abortion is necessary. Plus, there is death in this world. Not everything lives.
2. Yes. Rape, incest, pregnant child, save the life of mother, abort fetus that would not have lived.
3. Eventually yes.
4. Yes.
5. It is the same.
6. No.
7. Have an abortion. Although the woman that did this should have done both.
8. I read about this woman. She has the nerve to say nobody can get abortions when she has one herself (the dead twin). Abortion is abortion. 1 yes
2 yes, if the mothers life is in danger
3 yes
4 yes
5 no
6 yes
7 have an abortion
8 I don't think either in #7 should happen. I gave my answer based on the fact that the twin could not survive on it's own without organs. |
