Abortion question...?

Many of you are going to disagree with me, which is why you should answer my question so MAYBE I will (sort of) understand.

So many people go on to say that abortion is wrong, unless the girl was raped. Why does one believe abortion is wrong? Almost all of the answers are something along the lines of "Because abortion is murder and under no circumstances should you murder someone", noting the "under no circumstances". Ok sure if you believe that, then that鈥檚 what you believe and good for you. The problem I have though is when people go on to say that "Abortion is murder and is wrong, UNLESS the woman was raped". Do these people realize that they are completely contradicting their own beliefs? The reason they believe abortion to be wrong is because it is "murder", and even if the girl was raped and got an abortion, it would still be "murder". It doesn't make sense and seems very ignorant to contradict oneself like that. Please explain to me why you believe what I clearly don鈥檛.

Some people seem to be ignoring the actual question, which is WHY do some people insist that abortion is "a-okay" when the woman was raped, when they believe abortion to be wrong since it is "murder". The fact that she was raped does NOT change the fact that she will be killing her child if she gets an abortion. People who believe this, please explain, because it doesnt make any sense to me.

I strongly believe that women are smart enough to choose for themselves whether or not to have an abortion - we don't need a government (mostly men) telling women what to do. Each individual woman has the right to decide what is best for her and her baby. The government has absoIutely no place to come between a woman, her unborn child, and her beliefs. I completely agree with the asker of this question as to why its ok to abort a child conceived by rape. This is the one issue that I am extremely opinionated about - and it is the reason I will never vote for a candidate who is pro-life.
Sorry, I kind of went off topic, but this issue gets me really heated.

Actually, I'm not for any abortion, even in the case of rape. The little one shouldn't be punished for how she/he was conceived. The rapist should be punished -- not the baby.

KatieD is misinformed. The removal of an ectopic pregnancy is not an abortion. Has nothing to do with an abortion. An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy in the fallopian tube. Either the fallopian tube must be removed or just the pregnancy, but it's by no means ever considered an abortion.

i just feel that when a woman is raped it will probably be hard to face her child knowing that he/she is the product of a rape. i'm not completely against abortion or completely for it.

however, i AM completely against people in this world that use abortion as a form of birth control.

I believe alot of times people hide behind the word abortion, it is a complete contridiction for someone to say that its not ok for a girl to have one but only if she was raped, does being raped make the baby a mutant? that answer is no people use the word how it bests suites them i believe that all babys deserve a chance regardless of the situation.

I believe abortion is wrong, no matter what the situation. I understand that if someone is raped she wouldn't want to have the kid, but there's always adoption. I especially HATE when a woman gets an abortion just because she isn't ready for a kid yet. If a woman is ready to have sex she's ready to deal with the consequences. Adoption is WAY better than abortion.

Honestly, most people I know who feel that abortion is murder don't consider it okay to abort even in the case of rape. Usually, it is more in the case of if the life of the mother is in jeopardy, such as a tubal pregnancy.

I am not sure why people believe this way...i myself believe that the only way a woman should have an abortion is if the pregnancy is going to kill her....i admit i am one who says abortion is murder, for many reasons...but if someone is pregnant and the pregnancy is going to undoubtably kill her, then to not have the abortion would be murdering yourself, and your unborn baby, because the baby would not survive anyway....so to say that it is completely wrong to have an abortion unless you are raped does not seem right to me either...yes you are murdering a baby, so why not, if you dont want a child that will remind you of the horrible event that happened to you, why not give the baby up for adoption...So i will have to check up on your answers as well, beacuse that is a confusing one for me also...

I believe that abortion should never be an option, regardless of how the baby got there. Rape is a terrible thing, but it doesn't give you the right to do another terrible thing in return. I know a lot of people say that abortion is ok in the case of rape, and they say that to cover themselves so they don't sound insensitive. If you say a woman shouldn't abort a baby that is the result of rape, people think you are punishing the woman for something she couldn't have stopped. But that's not how it is. Abortion is just wrong, and if someone really believed that, they would not add "unless it's rape."

People argue that killing a fetus is just a fetus but i belive that it has its own DNA and it would have kids and thier kids wiuld have kids for 100s of years to come .

well i think it's ok to murder the man who raped the girl, then keep the baby. :)
i know this is serious, though.
a lot of people feel that they or someone else will go to 'hell' if they have an abortion. it is caused by fear in some cases.
other reasons could be judgement...they may say well you shouldn't have put yourself in the position to be raped...therefore making the girl someone who 'asked for it' i think that disgusts me when i hear people with that point of view.
some people just think of it as though they are protecting a baby...that it's not their fault and that abortion would be like a 'punishment' of someone who is innocent. i can understand this reasoning, personally.
people don't really KNOW though, unless they are the ones in that exact position. you can't say to another person whether they should or should no thave the baby, or whether it is this or that type of act, because you don't know! it's not you, it's not your baby.. it's not anyone's baby! people need to really look deeper on this issue instead of what we've been taught by a church, (which is often also ridden with child moleting authority figures and murderous greedy high powered figures! sorry if that was really harsh).

and ps...anyone here actually been in or closely know someone who has been through the adoption system and foster home system?? it's not usually a fun life! leave it up to them to decide if that's better.

First of all, I completely agree with you.

The problem is, these people have strict beliefs, but then they alter them according to the situation. If abortion is murder, then it's always murder. You are very right.

Many people who don't believe in abortion do say that when a girl is raped she can give it up for adoption, but not everyone.

It leaves me confused as well. (I'm also conflicted why the same conservatives who are pro-life are also very often pro-death penalty, but that's another issue completely.) Eh, I hope you get some clarification and helpful responses!

Personally, I think it's a woman's choice to do whatever she wants. I think abortion has both pros and cons depending on the situation.

I dont believe "Abortion is wrong, unless the girl was raped" thing. I dont encourage aboirtion, but I think its okay to have an abourtion if the baby is less then 25 days old. because after 25 days in the womb, the babys heart has formed and theyre heart is beating. I think THEN its murder.

I believe it is every woman's right to choose. yes I agree that if you are old enough to have sex then you are old enough to face the consequences. and I agree that adoption is also a good idea. but not many people take into account that pregnancy is difficult hard and sometimes painful. some people are not ready for a baby or pregnancy, some people will feel worse if they send their child to an orphanage or adoption, and some peoples family can literally dump them in the street if they don't get an abortion. I don't look at it as murder I look at it as a choice everyone deserves to make. would you rather a teenage mother have an abortion- or drop out of school get cast out of her family, live in the streets and become a junkie? in other words destroy her life?! I don't think anyone but the actual mother has a say in this choice, whether the baby was conceived by rape or consenting sex. I understand where everyone comes from with their opinions and respect them for believing in their own ways.

In a world full of people that are very highly against abortion, for me I feel my beliefs of pro-choice are really the minority. I believe especially in a raped victim's case, that abortion should be a choice for her. If it was me, I wouldn't want to raise a child that was half me and half a dude that raped me and scarred me emotionally and physically. Mistakes happen as well (condom breaks, etc.), so there has to be more options available to women. In my eyes abortion is not murder at all. Women have the right to choose what THEY want, not what others want. Peer pressure is huge in our society. Sure I agree that sex is a choice that young adults choose and they have to take the consequences, but you have to factor in mistakes. Not everyone is perfect.

Abortion is a really tricky issue. I personally believe that each woman needs to make the decision for herself. If you are against it, you need to take all the precautions so you don't find yourself facing that decision.

I don't know how someone could tell a rape victim that she should not be able to choose whome she bears children with. Abortion is sometimes the only option, afterall, who will raise all the unwanted children? It sure won't be the pro-life people...

Only 5% of abortions are due to health risks to mothers, incest, and rape.

so that leaves 95% of just plain murders.
