Abortion or tubes tied??

ok, why is it ok to have an abortion and no one has to know but in order for u to have your tubes tied, u have to be 25(?) and have had at least 2 kids and your husband has to consent. . .wouldn't there be less abortions if they changed this and you could have it done when u wanted and no one had to know? wouldn't adoption go up?? isn't it a crazy thing? you can kill an unborn child but u have to go threw so much trouble to have a surgery to prevent pregancy??? what do u think?

i live in TN, 23 and would love to have my tubes tied, but can't due to these restrictions :(

I think you should be able to have tubes tied if you want. Less pregnancy is definitely better than more murder.

I have heard those restrictions before so I know they exsist.

Where do you live? I've never heard of these restrictions.

Those rules don't exist. Please do not believe in such nonsense.

Well here where i live (kentucky) you have to be 21 and you don't have to have more than one kid or your husband's consent to have your tubes tied.

If people would just use birth control, spermicide and condoms i think they would be less abortions.

I don't believe in adoptions.
I am for abortion.
Every woman has the right to choose.

Where are you that you have to be 25 and have your husband sign the papers too?

I was 21 when i had my son and i signed the papers a month before he was born and we (me and hubby) wasn't married yet and they were going to tie my tubes but since i had my son early i got scared thinking oh god something could happen and so i told them don't tie them but i am going to be having them tied soon. (i am 26 now)

tubes tied...abortion is filled with regret...and killin a person...your mother didnt kill you so dont kill yours...tubes tied and birth control is a way better option

it's your body

Those restrictions do exist I know. They wouldn't tie my tubes untill after I had three kids. I didn't want them tied, my ex did. Anyway, I don't believe in abortion. There are many people who want children who can't have them. Adoption is better.

Abortion, murder for convenience? It鈥檚 a life not a choice.

When I was a teenager I knew for a fact that I would never EVER want to bring children into such a messed up, over-populated, crud hole.

Now that I've gained a few years perspective, I have a different opinion.

Use regular birth control, for now, and see what you think in 10 or 20 years.

Abortion is a personal choice that should be made solely by the individual that is facing the situation. I disagree with the phrasing in your question about an unborn child.
What do I think? That you are comparing two things that are not even remotely similar. Having your tubes tied permanently takes your ability to procreate. An abortion does not cause such permanent results. Either way, reproductive rights should be kept private, out of the hands of government officials and away from people intent on limiting the personal freedoms and choices of others.
Quit whining about these so called restrictions on getting your tubes tied. I don't know where you live but it seems irrational that such conditions would have to be met, in that order. It doesn't feel good to have officials limit your choice or place hurdles in the way of something that is such a personal decision, does it? Wake up to the fact that this nation is facing a serious crisis regarding the erosion of personal rights, freedoms and liberties because of overbearing politicians using the war on terror and national security to overwhelmingly control the life od an individual.

The reason doctors ask you to have had children first before making it impossible is so that you will not regret it. They would feel the same way about a young man asking for a vasectomy...they would recommend he wait until he is certain. Although sometimes they can reconstruct, these are considered irreversible operations. They also refrain from implanting IUDs in young women who have not borne children because there is some chance of sterility.

What the clinician told you was probably the guidelines they have
and not laws. Doctors interview the client and assess conditions based on observation and the information you provide. That is why it is essential you are completely honest with your doctor, so they have all the facts. There are perfectly good reasons why a woman needs no consent for operations or why someone would never want to get pregnant and a proper medical professional will
recognize an honest and well-reasoned appeal.

I guess getting your tubes tied is ok but it seems a little drastic to me. Just remember you'll never be able to have kids again. That's a big step to be taking. I'm totally against abortion - forget the "It's my body" argument. It's not your body, it's another human being's life you're screwing around with. Not a light matter. Instead of having such a heavy dilemma though, one should first consider the multitude of birth control methods available. If you need to, double up. Take the pills and use condoms. Better safe than sorry.
