About Abortion?

I am just curious about abortion, and for the record before i get bashed over it, I do not agree with abortion. I also am not pregnant and am not having one. I was just curious though as to what all it includes. How old do you have to be, and how much does it cost.

-One thought that horrifies me is the thought of what they do with the babies once they are "aborted"..

anyway I was just wondering, if anyone knows anything on the subject.

How much does it cost?

it's a pretty straight forward procedure. laws on age vary from state to state but in most places it's 16 without parental consent. costs range from several hundred dollars up depending on how far along with pregnancy is, if the woman wants anesthesia, what kind is used, etc. there are two types of abortion... medication and vacuum aspiration. medications used are usually cancer drugs that cause the fetus to die and the body to reject it and esentially have a miscarriage. vacuum aspiration is what most people think of as "abortion". the woman is given some mild sediatives and her cervix is numbed, then a doctor inserts tools to scrap the lining of her cervix (fetus, placenta, etc..) then vacuums out the contents. the products are discarded as medical waste... bascially they are picked up by chemical companies and burned just like any other biohazardous material. here are some links that explain all the details

You have to be of legal age in your state (18 here) unless you have a parent's permission.

The aborted fetus is disposed of like all other medical waste (i.e. tumors, excess skin, removed gall bladders--you get the idea.)

First of all it depends on the state you live in. Second of all they don't abort babies over I think 6 months I think. I live in California and teens can have an abortion without parents consent. I don't know if there is a charge for it. I would think it's probably over 8 hundred dollars. One the flip side , If you get pregnant go get the morning after pill. It's over the counter and I know it's expensive.

Well from what I've heard it's expensive..but getting an abortion is wrong, it's against my beliefs and it is considered a sin cuz it like murdering a child...when a women is already 2 weeks pregnant the baby is already starting to develop so for me it's wrong to kill an Innocent baby that has done nothing wrong

Personally, I feel that abortion is wrong. Have sex, get pregnant. Learn from it, then again babies aren't a joke! It's a life you're bringing into this world and some people can take care of this situation more than others. You have to put yourself in whoever's position, some people can be take the role of being a mother at a young age (usually when i hear abortion i think of teenagers, but that's not always the case) and some cannot.
Abortions are usually five hundred dollars, and it depends on the clinic that you go to. I know that if you're thirteen they just won't give you some papers to sign and let you do it by yourself. I think you need to be at least fifteen to go in by yourself, without parent signature.
