Does having an abortion cause an std?? |
Since i had the abortion i have noticed a yellow discharge but has no odor. The days following the abortion i was having severe abdominal pains and was vomiting, on the day of my follow-up i spoke with the nurse who said it was normal. I've felt strange ever since but i am experiencing painful fillopian tube pains and cramping, i go to the doctor in a week but i was just wanting to know if getting an std from an abortion is possible being in a monogomous relationship. No smart *** answers please. Its probably a complication with the abortion. Not an std. You might have an infection from the abortion. It is not an STD God be with you. Where did you get done? You should make sure that the instruments they used where either sterilized correctly, or brand new. I have never had an abortion so I dont know what you should expect afterwards. But I know people who have. They seemed perfectly fine after 2 or 3 days. If your symptoms last longer than that, you should go to a different dr. ASAP. No, that is not possible unless it was done in a nonsteril environment. Even then, it is remote. Cramping and abdominal pains are normal. Causes for concern are clots bigger than a quarter or soaking 1 or more thick pads within an hour. Some women experience nausea with vomiting. Resting in bed and drinking lots of water is prefered. These should subside with a few days. Just keep the appt as scheduled. And take it easy until then. Or if pains get worsen (they shouldn't) vist the Er. Good luck! ;) An abortion procedure shouldn't be the cause of an std. Equipment is usually sterilized and medical staff usually are aware of basic procedures to reduce transmission of bacteria or viruses. It is most likely an infection, if the pain becomes greater and you have high temperature you need to go to the nearest emergency department. There may be a slight chance of reproductive problems if you let the infection become real serious. Was the evironment sterile? Was the equipment clean? Its highly unlikely that you caught an STD from the instruments. More likely you have an infection that was caused by the abortion. I'd recommend getting to the doctor as soon as you can. Also, you might want to go to another practicioner, and not the one who performed the abortion. You can't get an STD from that but it really sounds like an infection. I've previously had an abortion and what you are describing is not normal. You should get checked out ASAP. an abortion has very high risks of getting cervical cancer and breast cancer so you should get checked because if you have cervical cancer and get pregnant the cervical cancer migth harm the baby |
