WATS WRONG WITH ME? /o period where r u?!/ CAN BLOODTESTS b WRONG?

Im 16 & got my period at 12, and theyre still very irregular (4-6 months gap) so my doctor gave me a blood test, but my bloodtests came back saying i was 'fine'.

I was researching the symptoms of Hypothyroidism and i thought for sure i had it, since i have 90% of the symptoms...

so what the hell?!

and im still confused y my periods are very irregular, the last time i got my period was in the summer, its winter now, jeez , and im 100% sure im not preggie

im so mad, i was hoping something would show up in my bloodtests, so that it could have alot of my questions about my abnormality answered!

WHY ISNT ANYONE ANSWERING!!!!!!!!!????????

If you are an athlete or train like one, it is not uncommon for you to have an irregular cycle or no cycle at all. I have known 4 woman that have had this happen to them when they where training for competition.

Talk to your doctor about this, your nervousness, and what are causing your periods to be very irregular.
If you didn't have sex, then you're not pregnant.

if you are underweight you could have annemoreah? I dont know how to spell it. That happened when I ran cross country. are you too thin or working out? stress does it too... your body has a period when it believes you are able to have a baby. ANY stress afects it. Do not worry.

There is a condition called PCO (polycystic ovarian disorder) which can cause irregular periods. You may not have it, but it might be worth looking into.

Some women never get regular.

Sometimes I would have a period for three weeks straight, then nothing for four months. Then another period in two weeks that lasted for six days, and so on. I never got regular until my late 20's.

After four years of having periods, you are still just beginning to have your hormones get balanced.

If the blood tests came back alright and you otherwise feel fine, don't sweat it. Also, please be aware that large weight gains or weight loss can suspend a period.

It is inconvenient, sure, but hopefully this too shall pass.

I'm not sure if I can really answer your question correctly, but at this point you'd prolly appreciate anything. Did you ask your doctor what all he was testing for? If you want him to test for Hypothyroidism, perhaps you could ask. Also, sometimes if a girl is very thin (whether its natural or from an ED) she may not always get her peroid. This is especially common in girls that are involved in sports. Talk to your doctor about nutrition, and make absolute sure that you are doing everything in your power the right way. I know the feeling of wanting SOMETHING to be wrong with me so that I could have an explaination and possibly treatment, but sometimes it just doesnt work that way.... And I'm sure not having a regular period with cause a lot of worry when you might have a reason to not get your period ^.~

Good luck sweetie!

If I were you I would get a second opinion. There are a lot of doctors out there that do not know everything. It seems like you are having a menstrual problem, are you on birth control? If not then you definitely need a second opinion. Why at 16 do you want to walk around with this problem and constantly have to second guess if you are pregnant. There is too many things a 16 year old needs to stress about as it is and not getting your period and you are not sexually active should not be one of those things. Have you expressed this issue with your parents? Try having them explain the situation to the Dr and see what happens then. Good luck and get that second opinion.

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this, however, it is more common among women than you think. My friend has been irregular for over ten years now. She would have a period "once every blue moon" as she would say. She also has a 10 year old daughter. Now you shouldn't be thinking about having babies now but my point is she was able to get pregnant despite her irregularity. Her doctors never found anything abnormal with her either. Try researching it a bit more on-line or in books. If you don't feel that you're getting the best help and support from your doctor, go see another one. Stop worrying, you're too young. You'll look up one day and irregularity may be a thing of the past and if not, you're still normal.
