Oh no :*( Dissapointing diagnosis that i dont understand. anyone know?

Ok im looking at the diagnosis report for an MRI i recently had done on my knee. I cant see a specialist for some time.. <Stupid insurance>. Here is what it says, i hope someone out there knows a little something about this stuff...

Impression <right knee> :
1. Patellar Tendon is foreshortened. Patellar tendon edema at its patellar origin. This coupled with the patellar cartilage edema <no loss of cartilage surface but does represent an early form of Grade I chondromalacia> is consistent with tracking abnormality.

2. Menisci and cruciate ligaments are intact. ANS:MFZ

Well thats it.. thats all i have and cant find and answers that make much sense by doing a web search. Hope someone can help, thanks!

Btw, I did ask about it when i came in to obtain the actual MRI's. I was told they could not give me a dianosis that it would be illegal because they are not actual doc's. It wasnt untill 9:00 tonight that i discovered this diagnosis report in with the MRI pics.. Hehe of course..

Impression <right knee> :
1. Patellar Tendon is foreshortened. (You have restriction in this muscle, right over your kneecap.) Patellar tendon edema at its patellar origin. (The muscle over your kneecap is leaking fluid.) This coupled with the patellar cartilage edema <no loss of cartilage surface but does represent an early form of Grade I chondromalacia> is consistent with tracking abnormality. (The leaking of the fluids is beginning to wear down the cartilage in the knee, but there is no serious loss yet.)

2. Menisci and cruciate ligaments are intact. ANS:MFZ (The other ligaments in the knee have not been affected, or have been minimally affected at best.)

Wanted to be a surgeon for a very long time, so I speak the lingo. Hope that clears some stuff up.

Why didnt you ask when you got the results. Anyway the only word that really sticks out to me is edema, which means it is leaking/retaining blood/fluid.

hope this link helps:

I have no idea..but so true about the <stupid insurance> the waiting list are awful..*sighs* i hope all goes well with you sweetie

It means that the tendon that holds your patella in place has suffered some damage and is partially torn. This is GREAT news when you take into consideration that an ACL injury or meniscus injury is MUCH worse. I wouldnt worry too much. I'm sure you'll be fine.

here's some advice :eat cherries to flush your body of the acids that cause arthritis, and take bromelain caps or eat meat tenderizer with bromelain in it ,cooked in meat, to build the cartilege from the inside, and if you want to take chondroitin

You most likely have a tear or rupture in your knee tissue, resulting with fluid building up around it. I would guess you have some pain with your knee and possibly some arthritis starting up. This condition can be associated with knock-knee and bowleggedness.

I'm not a radiologist, i can't interpret this for you. I can tell from the info you provided that its not a torn meniscus, nor is it torn ligament or arthritis.

But I can offer that I have a patellar tendinitis, and I've had it for 11 months now, and the info you posted sounds alot like it. Try googling jumpers or runners knee to get more info. I use ibuprofen for the swelling (edema), and lots of ice. The ice really helps alot. I also got a special knee brace that insurance paid for.

Take care
