Colpo and Biopsy...dr. said it didn't look good?

ok, i had a colposcopy done to evaluate the abnormality of the cells in my cervix today. He had to do a biopsy. Now he told me 2 hold out on conception until next month after the results come back in 8 days....So as i was leaving, i asked if everything looked okay. He said , it did not look too good, but just relax and we will get the results on next week. Now I'm crying so bad, becuz my hubby and I want a baby so bad, we're 23 and i just hate the fact that I have so much going on with my reproductive system...anybody got any advice or experiences to share?????????

Do not worry sweetie. I had a biopsy in October of 2003, and I had a checkup again in December. I got pregnant in January in the midst of it all. I was supposed to have the colposcopy in March. After I had my baby in October of 2004 I went back to my appointment in November, they ran the test again, and everything was back to normal.

I had a friend with the same problem. She had 2 babies after treatment for cancer of the cervix.

I had a colp and biopsy in October 2004. However, my biopsy results came out negative for any cancers or abnormalities. I was really nervous, too. Even if my doctor was concerned, she didn't say anything about it. I hate that your doctor upset you by saying that it didn't look too good. I wish you well on everything. I'll pray that everything works out for you and your husband.

Yes i have alot of probs down there. It turns out i have HPV. read about it 80% of women have it. I kno how ya feel.

First of all, hang on... wait for the biopsy. Weigh all options and even get a second opinion if necessary. Did he do an HPV test?
Women can go on to have babies with treatment, it all depends on test results. Ask lots of questions, and then ask another dr.

please don't worry, as u can see from these answers (including mine) that many of us have dealt with this. that doctor sounds like a jerk, they are supposed to be honest but should not worry you when they do not have all the information. especially is hes not telling u exactly what he means.

i had all of that too and ended up with high grade dysplasia- precancerous cells. NOT cancer but the precursor to it. if left alone it could turn into cancer in a few years (yes it takes that long). I had the abnormal cells lasered off and im fine. i asked about fertility and there is no reason why you should not get pregnant.

i had the same thing done - they took 3 biops said it would proly be bad but after 6 months everythings ok try not to freak out to bad i hope everything goes okay 4 ya sounds like the doc is not very good

i went thru the same thing... my doc said i had abnormal growth tissue on my cervix... of course they give the worse case scenario and make you trip out till you actually hear back from them.. but when i did hear back, everything was OK (not everyone gets 100% on a test!).. my sister went thru the same thing and she ended having HPV... but atleast it is treatable and not cancer like they initially thought.. it is very common for women now days to have an abnormal pap smear which is why more and more calposcopies are done...
