How long after a seizure will abnormal results be detectable on an EEG?

I had a seizure 1 week ago. I have an appointment with a neurologist next Wednesday (nearly 2 weeks from the seizure). If the neurologist administered an EEG, would the results still show an abnormality, or should brain waves/patterns (I'm not sure of the proper term) have normalized by this time?

I don't want to waste his time or mine. If an EEG is essentially normalized 2 weeks after a seizure, I doubt I'll waste my time. If there may still be something detectable which can determine the reason for the seizure, then I'm more than happy to invest some time and money in it.

Thanks in advance,
~M~

My daughter had an EEG done 2 weeks ago, the neurologist said they are capable of detecting seizures that happened a year ago sometimes. Good luck with everything, she was just diagnosed with epilepsy :( (14 months old) but I'm getting a second opinion to be sure (not tonic clonic seizures)

Thank you, I need all the prayer I can get. I'm just not ready to medicate her because she's only had three very mild partial seizures in 4 months. I'm trying to make the best decision because the medication has so many side effects. Report It

Meanwhile she is getting a CT scan this week and a 2nd opinion in June. Good luck with everything! Report It

An MRI shows up seizure activity no matter how long after having a seizure. I have seizures myself.
