Did this really happen at the hospital?

A patient at a local Veteran's Hospital prepared himself for a CT scan on the the day it was to be done. While lying on the board he was given an injection of iodine. The patient felt like he was burning from the inside out that lasted for a few seconds. After the feeling wore off he saw a fly flying around the CT room and it landed on the scanner. The scan was taken of the patient and when the films were examined the fly appeared on them. One doctor saw an abnormality on the fly and said the fly should be found and treated. The other doctor responded by asking, "What about the patient?" He was told, "The heck with the patient, we have to find and treat that fly before it infects other people."

Did this really happen?

The answer might surprise you.

Interesting to read.
It looks like the patient had experienced a sort of visual hallucination which could be a anaphylactic reaction to the Iodine compound that was given to him.
The later part of the story I think, is just composed to deviate the mind of the answerers.
So my conclusion is the first part of the story might be a real and the later part is just made up.

No.

Not if the fly landed on the scanner instead of the patient or table. Even then, I highly doubt the doctor would recognize "fly anatomy and physiology." As for what the doctor supposedly said, I wouldn't doubt a doctor would say it- ever!
