I donated blood two years ago and went to donate again and they said i am not allowed..? |
Because i had a false positive test for HIV... i called and spoke with someone and said that they run two tests twice and if they are both positive they run a confirmatory test and the first two tests i tested positive and the confirmatory test tested negative-- the lady at Redcross told me that no matter what it is there must be an abnormality in my blood? any ideas? I am flipping out, i just got tested yesterdya and have to wait two weeks.... btw, i am not a whore and have never used needles or drugs.... There must be an abnormality in your blood, breath and take it easy. It's not the end of the world. these 2 weeks will be so crazy, just try and not think about it that much, and remember to still RAP it UP. Just stay healthy and everything will be fine. it can happen if you have unprotected sex so i know it might seem hard to belive just try and get the right medicin Hi, because there are so many cases of people being infected by HIV or other illnesses that can be passed through blood, you have to understand why there may be concern in you donating. Would you want the Red Cross or any blood bank to accept blood if there's the slightest doubt about it? How you feel if you found out that you were transfused with blood from someone who had a questionable test result? They can't take chances, pure and simple. We're talking about people's lives not to mention law suits. ~~*~~ There can be a few things that would cause this. However, instead of worrying you about what it COULD be, I will just suggest that you call your DR and tell him/her what has happened. From there, you can get more detailed tests and a referral to an oncologist (if needed). Just don't stress out over this. The good thing is that they confirmed that you DON'T have HIV or AIDS!! Take it easy and call your DR. Good luck! Blood banks err on the side of caution. Whatever caused the positive, they do not want to put it in a patient. True, the Red Cross won't take your blood if there is any question regarding your HIV status. I know waiting is horrible, I had to wait also when I had blood drawn for life insurance. FYI you don't have to be permiscuous to catch it. If you have slept with only one person, you have a chance of getting it since technically you have also slept with all of their past partners. Good Luck. Please see my answer on |
