Anatomical abnormality causing urinary tract infection?

I just saw a urologist and he said I have extra skin between my urethra and vagina opening. So when I have sex, the urethra is pulled down and causes friction and irritation. He said he could do surgery to correct it. This sounds really scary to me, I tried to search the web but couldn't find anything about it. Is there a medical name for this abnormality? Has anyone had this done?

I don't know the "name" of this but I have certainly heard - especially as women get older, that the skin in that area undergoes some changes due to hormones.

A couple of other items:
1) Sometimes altering positions can help out this situation. Did the dr. not mention this?
2) As ALWAYS - make sure to get a second opinion before you undergo a procedure like this - especially since you walked away with questions and doubts.

No I never heard of this before but you can ask your doctor for the medical name for this condition and then he can either give you more information or you can search the web easier...Good Luck
