Had a 20 week scan and an abnormality has been detected. calcification of the ribs will i have to terminate? |
i have just had a 20 week scan and was told very little about the abnormality that has been detected. Im so worried my mind is running away with me. Will i have to terminate this pregnancy or can it be corrected after birth??? i have been told that they have detected calcification of the ribs. what does this mean ?? Sharon - There are so many possibilities that really your doctor will have to go over it with you. The technician doing the scan should never have told you something was found. This is something we fight all the time with the technicians. So now you are scared and do not have the information you need to calm your mind. Call your doctor and schedule an appointment as soon as possible. I am not sure what this condition is but I have a son who was born with ALOT of medical problems and I am so glad he is here. I never once thought about aborting him and I am glad. He has been the best thing in my life and I cant see life without him. I knew he had some problems while I was pregnant with him but I loved him no matter what and knew god would do what he thought was best for him. Give the child a chance because really only god has the right to take life. I hope everything turns out and if you need someone to talk to feel free to email me at any time. lisa_sonydadc@yahoo.com There is absolutely no reason an abortion should even be a thought. Regardless of if anything is wrong with the baby, this is a living child. He or she is relying on you to care for them, as you know. If any doctor tells you that you need to abort your child, PLEASE get more opinions on whether or not your life is in danger. Is abortion something you are wondering about or did someone tell you this? I just can't see that this possible problem could affect your health, so please please please do not abort this precious child. God will decide if the child is well enough to hold his or her own. Good luck, God's blessings and please try not to worry, this will affect your baby and yourself negatively. I would find out more about what the technician found, but talk to your OB instead. God bless. |
