Non-Specific Abnormalities? |
I just recently had a ct-scan and am soon booked for an MRI. They had found "non-specific abnormalities" in the front left part of my brain. Can anyone tell me what this means? My doctor is too busy to talk to me right now and the radiologist is impossible to reach. Should I be worried? I was given a ct-scan because of a severe, incapacitating pain in the side of my head-not a headache or a migraine. It was very sudden and unlike any pain I have had before and it has flucuated in pain levels ever since. I have had nausea, weakness and chest pain ever since, as well as the pain in my head. Sometimes it means exactly what it means- non-specific. It means that they see an area that looks abnormal and they cannot tell what it is- that is why they are getting an MRI. It could be cancer, a tumor, bleeding, or nothing at all- just a shadow... good luck. It usually takes a day or two to get results from these tests back to the doctor- so wait until at least the day after before you call him. I do not think he is hiding anything from you- it is just that he needs further testing before he can tell you what it means. First, I would love to know what type of Signs or Symptoms that you were having to go to a CT. Second, sometimes there are abnormalities that have no clinical significance such as a blood vessel or part of the brain being supplied from another artery (which usually doesn't supply that area or vessels). Thirdly, they might of found something unrelated to the condition which you saw medical advice for, which again my not be clinically relavent. |
