Do abnormalities seen on a cat scan of the lungs always mean something serious?

A friend of mine had this done and I'm very concerned. Any MD's out there that could tell me what it could be? (not asking for any kind of diagnoses)

No, abnormalities on the CT scan are not always serious. In fact, I see more things that are relatively benign - atelectasis, consolidation, infiltrates, etc. are all things that are commonly seen. They might not be the mosty healthy things for a lung to have, but definitely not usually life threatening.

Could be allot of things from fluid to a cits there really is no reason to worry about it until they do a biopsy
