Lower abdominal pain can someone please help me im worried!!?

I went to the doctor on fri because I had pain after sex on wed night. I could only get into my family doctor because of the wait for the gyno, but he ran a urine and blood sample. I thought it may have been a cyst but he also mentioned pid which scared the crap out of me. I have been with my bf for 2 years nad this never happened before. I have to wait for the results to come back and also to get into the gyno, so in the meantime I have a few questions for those experienced with pid. My symptoms were lower abdominal pain mostly what felt like in my bladder and up to my belly button. They were constant pain but now have eased up to hardly being there except whenI push on my stomach, or do something strenuous. These are my only symptoms. No fever, vomiting, or burning while urinating. My question is so I can feel better about it not being pid, do pid symptoms ease up on their own w/o treatment? Do you normally have a fever with pid? Please help!!!

PID may cause only minor signs and symptoms or none at all. Asymptomatic PID is especially common when the infection is due to chlamydia.

Contraceptive IUDs may increase your risk of PID, but barrier methods, such as condoms or diaphragms, reduce your risk. Use of the birth control pill alone offers no protection against acquiring STDs. But the pill may offer some protection against the development of PID by causing your body to create thicker cervical mucus, making it more difficult for bacteria to reach your upper genital tract.
Antibiotics are the standard treatment for pelvic inflammatory disease. Your doctor may prescribe a combination of antibiotics before receiving the results of your laboratory tests. The antibiotics may be adjusted once your results are known. Your doctor may also prescribe a medication to relieve your pain and recommend bed rest.

To prevent reinfection of PID, advise your sexual partner to be examined and treated. Avoid sexual intercourse until treatment is completed and tests indicate that the infection has cleared in all partner.

You absolutely need treatment (and your boyfriend) if it was caused by chlamydia especially, since it can leave you infertile.

PID seems to be the one-size-fits-all answer from a lot of doctors. 10, 20 years ago it seemed to be the ONLY answer to what turned out to be a bunch of different problems. Get your test results first to see if it's a UTI or something, but please get a second opinion if they tell you it's PID. You may have a fibroid cyst, ovarian cysts, a bladder irregularity, etc. Endometriosis is also really common. Luckily, women's medicine is coming along, but there still some weird hostility/animosity towards women in pain. I think it's because a lot of pains are so mysterious to doctors, and generally they hate to either not know, or be flat out wrong with their diagnosis. Soft tissue issues can be frustrating. Just please, PLEASE get a second opinion if the answer from this doctor is PID.

First calm down, drink lots of water and if u can tolerate cranberry juice. CJ is good to get the ph level balance back in your vagina area and also wards off inflammation.
Next make sure that when you use the bathroom, your wiping away to the back. Front to back and that ur showering daily. Keeping your hands extra clean. Change to white cotton underwear. At night don't wear them to sleep. Yep, let your vaginal area breathe. The old adage " Cleanliness is next to Godliness" might have some merit.

Make sure your boyfriend is showering daily, keeping his groin and penis as clean as possible. If either of u have any problems going to the bathroom avoid sex. Yeast infections, Urinary infections are painful and can be serious for the female. Chlamydia is another thing...
If ur family has female history of problems: u need to be proactive and monitor them with your gyn. Not everything is PID. Stress will wreak havoc on ur life. Also r u sure your boyfriend is being faithful? If he's not u can be the unwilling victim of circumstance. Bottom line, think positive, make ur health a priority and don't have sex if u feel unwell or the enviorment is not sanitary. I am curious though why u thought it was a cyst? Here's hoping it was something minor.
