How much abdominal pain did you have 4 weeks after your hysterectomy ?

Four weeks on and I still ache so much when I stand for a certain time. I did have the full works and have a much longer scar than I thought I would. Although, I'm not in excrutiating pain, I ache badly and have shooting sharp pains all over my pelvice area, especially when I've been up and about for a few hours. I wondered if you had the same thing at this stage and whether I'm expecting too much too soon. Also, how active should you be at this stage. Thankyou very much.

I want to reassure you, I had hysterectomy and I had pains about 6 weeks. That was the time I felt I could start walking freely again, travel around and get to normal life activities. I know many of my women friends had the same experience. The body requires its healing time and we are all so different. If you have no bleeding, no unusual symptoms then do not worry, the pain will subside soon. In any case I think one should go for a check-up after 6 weeks? I had some bleeding and went to the doctor and it seems I had one stitch left inside which did not heal, once he tooK it out, I was ok.

Ask your doctor. I've never had a hysterectomy.

Did you have a vaginal hysterectomy? If so, then the recovery is much less time. However, there should be some discomfort after 4 weeks and standing for long periods of time. But, excruciating pain? No.
If you had the incision method then recovery is a little longer. All of this should have been told to you by your Dr. Call and tell him or her what you're experiencing. You are still in recovery and still his responsibility.
Recovery is very different in patients. I was touring Egypt 4 weeks after my hysterectomy (incision method). But no everyone is up to that. I'm an active person and have a high pain tolerance. It's not as easy as someone who just cannot walk through the pain, (and it IS PAINFUL!) Pay attention to what your body is telling you and if you are worried don't hesitate to tell your physician. That's what they're for! Good Luck!

everyone is different sweetie. after my hysterectomy i had some pain for about a week. i had my uterus and one ovary removed due to fibroid tumors. the ovary that was removed was attached to my uterus with scar tissue so it had to be removed. if you think you are experiencing too much pain after so many weeks after your surgery you need to get in touch with your doctor. it is normal to have pain after the surgery but i don't think it's normal after so many weeks as it is suppose to get better. go see your doctor sweetie to get check to see what is going on. voice your concerns to the doctor. it is better to be safe than sorry. good luck sweetie.
