31 yr. old granddaughter has undiagnosed abdominal pain?

She has had an ultrasound of her abdomen (results were she had multiple cysts on one kidney and calcification in another). Her Gyn doctor said she doesn't have a tubal pregnancy, her primary care Dr. ordered a Kidney ultrasound and the results aren't in yet. The pain is below the navel, in the center area, down about 2 inches. It comes and goes and sometimes is really intense. No bladder infection either. They may run a lower GI if this shows nothing. Is there anyone having heard of this or who has had something similar? If so, what caused it? Thanks.

You'd just have to let the doctors run their course. Sounds too complicated for a diagnosis here. Good luck!

I suggest you seek a second opinion... or a third or a forth, until they find it. If this is the start of OVARIAN CANCER, every week it goes undiagnosed, decreases her chance of survival, by several percent.

Have her eat a pork sandwich (the more fat the better) and make sure ther is lots of lettuce on it, shoot have her eat a salad with it. If the pain hits her 20-45 min after eating, it is a gall stone. Gall stones are made up of hardened fat and will not show up on x-ray or ultra sound.

When you eat fatty food and greens the gall bladder secretes it enzymes to help with digestion, that is why she needs to eat what I said. If it starts hurting have the doctor check for a gall stone.

ooh, sounds like it could be endometriosis. my gyn ran all kinds of tests before he came up with that little diagnosis. it is kinda hard to find. are her periods messed up? come whenever they feel like it? heavy flow? the treatments for endometriosis are birth control pills, then lupron injections, then burning and cauterizing the bad tissue then hysterectomy. good luck.
