I have lower chest pain/ upper abdominal pain...any ideas?

The pains started a few days ago and at first I thought it was heartburn, so I took tums and zantac. But before the pains started, I woke up the three previous mornings around 3 am and felt nauseous. I'm on the pill so my periods are always normal, but my period started three days late. I'm not sure what is going on, and I haven't been able to get in to see the doctor yet. Any input would be great. Thanks...Also I'm only 21 years old, I don't know if they has anything to do with heart problems..etc.

Sounds like a bad case of indigestion, possible hiatal hernia. Either case you need to see a gastrointestinal doctor, but first make sure you're not pregnant, some bad morning sickness can resemble heartburn.

Good Luck...*.*...

Do you also have pain in your left arm when this chest pain occurs? If so, go to the hospital immediatly. Otherwise it is probably just heartburn. Eat smaller, more frequent meals. Try taking Malox.

No matter what the cause, this is something that needs to be treated. Please don't put off seeing the doctor for any reason.

Please check this out with a doctor, especially if it continues. Possible causes: anxiety, heartburn, ulcer, flue, food poisoning are the simpler possibilities. If this continues or gets worse, your doctor may suggest endoscopy and barium studies. I had this procedure done a few years ago. The doctor put me on mega doses of antibiotics and one antacid pill a day for prevention. I haven't had any problems since then. A frequently overlooked cause for symptom complex is gastroparesis, impaired gastric emptying. A radiosiotope gastric emptying study will identify if your stomach functions properly. If not , a treatment with prokinetic drugs may help.
There are also websites which will take your symptoms and make a tentative diagnosis ( see below). A professional will ask questions such as medical history, medications, food eaten before these episodes etc. This is a best guess answer only. Please see a professional for more definite answers.

It could be acid reflux. If there are palpations with it reduce your caffine. If you have every passed out under these conditions, go to the hospital and get an echocardiogram of your heart. Yes, you are young. My daugher had chest pains and six months later she passed out at church I wanted to take her to the ED, she said she was ok and it was her shoes that made her fall. She was hiding something from me or afraid. Afraid got her dead.
She collapsed in her room three days later. I blame myself noone can talk me out of that. Her father passed away 10 years later from the stress of it all. Staci was 22 years old and away at college and I only saw her briefly on weekends, so I could not access her health and think see was too young to have anything wrong with her. Be careful not foolish

maybe you have an topic pregancy. I did and had a period for 2weeks. and did not know I was pregant. are a liver problem. either way you need to go to a Doctor now don't let whatever it is get worse. Good Luck! I don't mean to scare you but better to be safe than sorry.
