Are there any good successful hysterectomy stories out there? |
I just recently had a total abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago, with one ovary removed as well. Everywhere I look online it seems that I see nothing but horror stories or depressing stories regarding the recovery. I have Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome and Endotremisiosis and was miserable before my surgery. Since having the surgery I feel like I have been given a new lease on life! I feel great! i am 14 weeks post surgery. i had a lapriscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy. i feel great. i didnt have any problems after the surgery. i still have my moments of mild pain but thats supposed to be normal. i behaved myself completely during my recovery. i had 1 rule to live by.... "when it comes to hysterectomies you have only 1 chance to heal correctly the first time". i didnt want to take any chances on extending the healing time. i wish i had been able to have mine earlier. it took me 10 years and a move to a different state to find a doctor willing to help me. my life is so much better now!!!! the pleasure of no more daily pain or periods is worth all the pain of the surgery! Both my daughters had total hysterectomies. They both had to follow regimes of hormones and drugs. One sixteen years ago, one recently. They both see the doctor regularly and follow strict rules set down. They're both well. Good Luck My great grandmother, grandmother, mom, mother-in-law, and three aunts have all had hysterectomies. We have a family history of problems obviously (very painful cycts on ovaries). Every single one of these surgeries was successful. The only problem that I have heard was that my mother-in-law's morphine pump was not working that night after surgery, but that is hardly because of the surgery! Otherwise, all have healed very well, and as long as you obey the Doctor's orders, and do not lift anything heavy, you should be fine. I have already decided that if I have any problems when I am done having children, I will probably have a hysterectomy. Also, do not forget to take the medicines, when you forget for too long, it supposedly feels like menopause syptoms all over again. Good luck with your recovery! Hey I can identify with you 'cause I too had the same surgery and for the same reasons, I too felt horrible the first few weeks but then everything went back to normal, I FEEL WONDERFUL ,do you now in what aspect I feel the best? in the sexual department, I feel so liberated ( not afraid of a pregnancy)that the sex is wonderful. |
