Why is the abdomen more vurnerable to damage than other areas of the body?

My friend recently got into a minor car accident, but luckily she was wearing a seatbelt.
But she had bruises in her abdominal area despite that, went for a checkup, and was told that she had some internal organ injuries.
I was told that the abdominal area was more sensitive to this kind of stuff than others, but can someone explain to me why?
((pray for my friend, too, so she doesn't have to be in a lot of pain))

lots of organs around there and no shell to protect them, only tissue. i will pray for your friend tonight

because the upper part of the body is protected from the rib cage, and the abdomen doesn't have something to protect it so it is exposed to damage. The organs there are unprotected the bruises she got on her front was probbably from the seatbelt pulling back, and of course due to newtons law, when she stopped suddenly her body was still going at a great speed and the seatbelt yanked back on her, also pulling on the organs inside

it sounds like wearing a seatbelt is bad because of bruises you will get from it, but its A LOT better than if she wasn't wearing a seatbelt at all, she could be seriously hurt otherwise

It is sensitive because it has all of those vital organs there. and there isnt bone to protect it all. our chest has our rib cage... our abdomin... well... it has the muscul and fat that is there.. after that... it is which ever organ comes first
