Lower Back Pains in male teen?

Im 15 and since day before yesterday I've been having pains in my lower back,(the area above butt). Eveytime I get up from bed it hurts, when I sit in a chair to work it hurts, its really miserable. I recently was shoveling snow, and also recently I've been doing lower back stretches and abdominal exercises. So what caused this? What is this known as? How long will it last? Can I cure it? And how do I prevent this in the future

It sounds like you have overworked your back. If you aren't doing crunches properly you can place a lot of strain on your lower back. Shovelling is also a very strenuous activity that needs to be approached properly to avoid such pain.

What I would recommend is some stretching before and after you attempt any physically demanding activities.

We sometimes forget the importance of stretching in avoiding injury. In the meantime make sure you are doing some gentle stretches, heat applied to the area of pain and massaging will all help treat the current pain.

Make sure though that you stretch before and after to avoid this in the future! I have included a link to an amazing site on stretching and injury prevention. Check it out for some stretching ideas!

I hope this helps and all the best.

you might have pulled a muscle.
go to the chiropractor.

You may have strained your lower back muscles, try to stretch it out everday, if that doesnt work go to a chiropractor

yeah tell me about it. im 15 and my lower back always kills me. it hurts so bad when i lay on my belly. my g-ma took me to the chiroptracter and it felt like he was killin me, but in the end im glad i did it.

Since you have been doing hard labor and also exercising it seems you probably just overdid it. If you were having pain
on urination then it could be a kidney problem. Try soaking in
a pretty hot bath of epsom salts , if you don,t have the salts just a hot bath will do. Use a heat pad on the sore area and hopefully you will be fine in a day or so. Don't over do then, You need to work up to that real hard work!!
