What could cause these symptoms? |
I have not been feeling well for for about a month and a half, but I think that whatever is causing my problem may have started about a year and a half ago when I experienced significant unexplained weightloss and fatigue. I lost about 25 pounds in approximately 6 weeks, but eventually (months later) gained 10 pounds back, only to lose it again with this latest problem. I'm 21 years old, 5'9", 125lbs. I have abdominal discomfort that has been gradually increasing, but tends to be worse during/after meals. It is like pressure rather than sharp pain. It is located in the center of my upper abdomen, a couple of inches below my breastbone. I had to modify my diet due to a sudden sensitivity to sugar and have been experiencing frequent episodes of significant hypoglycemia. I have been extremely tired and very weak lately. I have been to my doctor and he isn't sure what is going on so I am going to a specialist soon but I am really struggling at work and wonder what I can do in the meantime. I have had problems with cuts and bruises that linger for a long time and the cuts often get infected since the initial weight loss a year and a half ago. I am not pregnant and have had no problems with my menstrual cycle. Arg!!!! it scurvy mate! Are u under stress? That could be a problem. Stress does strange things to your body. I have been ill for the last 5 yrs. Fatigue, nausea, pain, boating, gas, abnormal digestive issues. Constant yeast infections.... white tongue...really bad eye allergies. I finally found a doc that would help me. He diagnosed me with intestinal yeast overgrowth. I just felt sick all over. It sounds like it could be a few things. When you gave the location of the pain I thought of a peptic ulcer. But that doesn't explain the sudden hypoglycemia. You're quite thin for your height. Has your doctor considered that you could be a type 1 diabetic? There are conditions that cause the pancreas to shut down where it was fine before. This would also explain your previous sudden weight loss. you may have more than one thing going on with you. you have symptoms of thyroid problems as well as intestinal/digestive problems. your health is very important. do not wait any longer and get yourself to a specialist. your regular doctor should have already done a cbc (complete blood count) test. if he hasnt already, demand one. you should get your sugar, cholesterol and thyroid tested through bloodwork as well. stand up for yourself and demand they take you seriously, even though you are young. you need to find out what is going on with you. Have you been tested for diabetes? I would consult your doctor. get checked for diabetes. |
