Working out everyday, with NO results! Help!? |
I'm a 19 year old college student, 5'7'' and 145 pounds. All my life, I've been very thin. However, in the last year, I've been consistantly gaining weight. Within this time, I was recommended for the Depo shot by my gynecologist, because of endometriosis and severe menstrual pain. The shot had very negative effects- I developed anxiety and depression, in addition to the weight gain. As for my food intake, I've been extremely careful. I actually hate eating after a workout (because I feel like I'm undoing all the work I did). It's sounds like you are on the right track. You have noticed a change in your body and it's only been six weeks! I know TV has made it seem like you should notice changes within a couple of weeks but that is not true. make sure you eat healthy, and do different cardio every day. change it up a bit. do crunches and walk alot. it will help. Exercise more = eat more. You may not lose actual weight, but watch how your clothes are fitting. the problem is pretty obvious. the machines you are using at the gym won't help with your midsection. instead of using bike and treadmill, you can use one of those machines that helps you with crunches or sit-ups. ask your trainer. You may be subconsciously replacing the calories burned with exercise with food or drink. Start writing every thing you eat and drink, noting the number of calories consumed (not just calories per serving). When you get over the shock, start replacing the smallest 'sin' with a healthy alternative. Unsweetened herbal tea instead of sports drink. Salad with chicken instead of burger. Fruit instead of cookies. The small changes will be the easiest to keep. Also watch your caffeine, it's an appetite stimulant. Endometriosis and menstrual cramps are linked with a condition known as candida. I suggest you read up on this and begin an anti-candida diet and antifungal program. I am a holisitic nutritionist and I see this all the time. Also, the hormones you are taking are influencing your metabolic rate and liver. After a few months on the program you may want to get off the drugs. Just remember that the anti-candia protocol takes time...up to a year. But it is so worth it! Swimming and sit ups are better for the mid section. hello, part of the problem is that you said you work yout everyday. It sounds like that would be the best way but it's actually not because working your body everyday dodn't give your body or muscles any time to rest. For fat to burn and or to get better toned, your body needs a resting period to work. Also, make shure that are only eating the amount of calories that are are capable of burning off. I am a part of the makings of this free website that gives you step by step instructional videos to help you get fit fast. www.iwantsixpackabs.com. Hope it helps, best of luck to you. How is your eating habits? You can work out all you want, but you caloric intake plays a major role. I've eliminated a vast amount of carbs, though not all of them, from my diet and it made a dramatic difference! Sometimes whats works for one perosn might not work for everyone. By no means do I mean quit what you're doing, working out is great! (dont forget to give your muscles a days rest too!) its gonna take longer than 6 weeks! make sure you are eating healthy and cutting back on the alcohol!! i am right there with you. i have a problem with my mid section also. In the morning right after you wake up drink a mug of green tea. 15 minutes later do a 30 minute cardio work out. then eat breakfast ( preferably oatmeal ) oatmeal is the best breakfast you can eat. through out the day eat small snacks (about 4 100 calorie snacks each) that is including your lunch. then right before dinner do your muscle boosting exercising including an ab workout. then eat a 500 calorie dinner. take a small walk after dinner (10 min). make sure not to have eaten anything for 2 and a half hour before bed. Well I'm no expert in physical training nor medical or any of those departments, but I can only tell you from personal experience and experiences of others. Do some crunches and anything that deals with the abdominal area. Not sit-ups because it will ruin your back in the long run not to mention, once you get about mid-way of a full sit up the rest is just simply relaxed muscle. You could also do some simple leg lifts which will help with your lower abdominal area as well. With your legs together and kept off the ground six inches, pointing your toes. Bring up to about 90 degrees and spread them apart as far as you can and lower your legs down to about six inches off the ground and then close them together again. Do this as many times as you can and in different variances and remember to breath in and out while doing so. Also, if you are drinking sodas, cut back on it and drink more water. I work at UPS airport loading and unloading packages from aircrafts. I was almost 200 lbs. when I first started working there. In the first couple of years that I worked there, I totally quit drinking sodas and only drank water and just worked, sweating, and drinking a lot of water. I gradually lost my weight and was noticing it and I didn't even do any kind of work out during the day, only doing my job. So water and working out and sweating is a big factor in losing weight and also helps to burn that excess fat. The depo shot is a factor to gaining weight, in case your gynecologist didn't tell you that! Oh and also, watch what you eat and make sure you get all the nutrients you need. And all that nonsense about watching carbs and all that, I'll just say that I'm an eater and while I was losing my weight not once did I ever think about nor watch what I ate just as long as I got my everyday nutrients. Till this day I don't watch all those calories or carbs but yet I keep a steady weight and probably still healthier than most people my age and even younger! Well good luck and take care!!! |
