Stomach Infection and Colonoscopy?

I am 21 yrs old and I was suffering from stomach pain due to acidity. My bowel habits have been a little different but it maybe due to the medication. The Endoscopy, Ultrasound, Blood, Stool and everything seemed normal. Since the abdominal discomfort has been lasting for 15-20 days now, my doctor has suggested me to get a colonoscopy. Do you suspect this is really worth it? Do you really suspect there is something wrong with my colon? I have no problems in running on the thread mill for 30 mins :)

The doctor did say that he is suspecting an IBS but he never told me why he was giving me the colonoscopy. As you said, I will atleast be happy that I got the test done. I was just worried that there is nothing serious. The doctor did say there is nothing serious but I was traumatized a few months ago and the effects are still on fire :)

Do it.

When I was 19, I complained of abdominal pain to my doctor, and he recommended that I schedule a colonoscopy. When the pain seemed to subside over the next few days, I made the unwise decision to skip the colonoscopy, stick out the pain. and see if it would go away. I ended up getting that colonoscopy a month later -- from inside the hospital, with a tube down my nose, and a dextrose/saline IV bag as my only "food" for a week. As it turns out, the colonoscopy diagnosed my condition, and it would have saved me all that trouble if I'd done it a month earlier before I got worse.

I hope your colon is perfectly healthy, and that the test confirms it. If that happens, it doesn't mean the test was unnecessary; it means you did what needed to be done to take care of your body. To you and everyone who reads this question: learn from my mistake.

He probably wants to rule out inflammatory bowel disease. I would have the test done. It is not that bad and maybe you'll get some answers and get going on a treatment for your stomach pain. I wish you good luck.

I recommend doing it just to make sure all is fine. I just had one about a month ago and it isn't that bad at all. They found 2 polyps and took them out. Really its a piece of cake.

I had a similar problem , but an endoscopy showed that I had Gastritis , which can even mimic a heart attack. Because of colon cancer in my family , I get a colonoscopy every three years.

Of course , I'm quite a bit older that you. The fact that they didn't find it , a colonoscopy is a logical procedure. Do it!!!
